34point finish if we win all our games. To have any chance we need to beat manly and dolphins, but realistically clutching at straws.
      28 points most likely finish.

i think both dolphins and sharks make the 8 with their last byes still in hand leaving us and manly batting for the dreaded 9th place.

      • See us maybe beating Parra and Souffs at best.

        • They could jag a spot with Manly and Dolphins having tough runs home also.. it’s actually quite possible even with a loss in the run home.. hard to believe really!
Sharks are easily in with their run home you would think!
Dolphins get the luxury of playing the raiders last round who may rest players if they are set for top two.. that may be crucial!
But playing with the NRL ladder predictor, there is def a path through that is not insurmountable especially with these the teams playing each other. Be an interesting ride that will keep us engaged at least!
Be great for the youngsters to be in the fight at least, and amazing if they can jag 8th.
But the footy pessimist in me knows better!

            • As long as we beat the vermin in the last round then the season wasn't a complete failure

              • I have no confidence now in any game we play.

Way too many pathetic / unnecessary losses this year.

Fingers crossed for a better 2026.

Hopefully Robinson parks his ego and realises he has to get us playing error free footy, and have better defense to compete with the top sides.

                • On a bright note, and I haven't bothered examining the run home of the teams in "contention" at the other end of the ladder, but Souffs are an excellent chance of winning the spoon.

How excellent would that be after the fuss over the return of coach Bennett?

                  • I don’t think it really matters this year because even if we sneak into the 8 we are cannon fodder for whoever finishes 5th.

Our defence hasn’t been up to it all year so can’t see anything changing because it’s a finals match..

We just don’t have it this year,unfortunately..

I agree, however making the 8 would be more then a pass mark for sure, and a huge achievement considering the amount of cattle we lost proof also that development of our young guys is the way forward.
It’s been a rollercoaster and I believe we’re due a good couple of games two victories over the next fortnight against the two teams were competing with for the 8 will make things very interesting.

On our day we can beat anyone but I agree with you that we just don’t have it this year, unfortunately

I wonder if coaches consider someones ability to defend when they sign them or do they assume that this aspect of their game is a given and not so important. Toia's ability to read an attacking threat is beyond his years. Billy's reads are also impressive.! Foketi's technique is a thing of beauty when he get's it right. Old school Gillmeister style.

To me, the Vermin getting the spoon is as good as the Chooks winning the Premiership.

                            Getting both is Nirvana!

                            • Season 2025 a season of interference when on a learning curve with young personnel who have performed admirably more so than the experienced players such as Radley, Collins and EButhcher. Injuries due to illegalities also a part of the interference to our combinations and the odd suspension like Billy’s and the HIA protocol of having to sit out the following week and the stupid and contrived origin period. The young players have had an initiation into biased officialdom. The mental resolve may improve next season.
It would have been hard knowing prior the sharks game that todd the turd ref was going to ream them. Beaten before they ran out regardless of Chads selection. Walkers delayed return another factor and upon return Savala being injured.

                              • Another year another season of poor discipline ruining any chances of making the finals. Our young players I feel would have got us in the top 8 had our lazy origin players not returned. Poor coaching and poor selection decisions such as Townsend added to our demise. Roosters style footy is not suited to the new game of 6 agains. Since the new rules we haven’t troubled the scorer. 2026? Same coach same problems will remain. Not hoping for another rooster championship until an overhaul of coaches. We need another style - a winning one.
