  • we've got a good mini-break before the next game. hopefully the boys can re-group. truth is that while we should have won on thursday, and that would have helped us, losing to the storm isn't as bad as losing to the dolphins or eagles would be. they're are direct competitors. if we win the next two we're back in the hunt.
we've been underwhelming after the bye and there's not the same sense of momentum as there was in 22 and 23 but there's time to turn it around if we're good enough

Since the new rules we haven’t troubled the scorer. 2026? Same coach same problems will remain. Not hoping for another rooster championship until an overhaul of coaches. We need another style - a winning one.
What other season has ill-ldiciplin stopped us making the finals? We’ve made the finals every year from 2013 to 2024, except 2016.

      • Penrith are winning the comp and are light years ahead of us in every department and metric you could think. St Nicholas needs to leave his Greek island villa and do something to fix it.

        • Despite being despondent after the Storm loss , my unwavering optimism for the Roosters has returned and is still there, so I think I might head out to the chipstealers game

          • top 8 finish is doable

10th Roosters play manly, Finns, Dogs, Parra, Melb, rabble.................. we win 4 to 5 of those
9th manly play Roosters, faiders, wests, finns, merg, nz........... win 2 to 3 games
8th finns play, nz, Roosters, drongos, manly, titts, and faiders.............3 games
7th sharks play, cows, merge, titts, bye, knights, dogs..............5 wins
6th drongos. rabble, storm, finns, knights, cows, storm.............4 wins

team to watch out for below us
cows play shire, parra, knights, wests, drongos and bye...............4 wins with the bye

we have a tuff finish but i think we will rely on a few losses to teams above us to make the eight.

            • I just think by this point making the finals papers over the cracks of our ill discipline and poor game management. Our style of play will not win us a premiership any time soon. The NRL media is so myopic and narrative-driven aswell. If we make finals we aren’t getting beyond the 1st or 2nd week anyways but the talk will be how great our season was because of all the players out and rookies we’ve used. I think we should be setting higher standards than that, we should be comfortably in the Top 4 with the chances we’ve had this year. Need to bring attention to our poor performances instead of a miracle run papering over the obvious cracks that appear year in year out.

With that said, of course I want us to win and make finals but it’s not the worst thing if we don’t make it this year.

We don’t play saints again, it’s the Storm.

                  • Does it even matter if we sneak into 8th spot just get pumped week 1 by the Panthers in 5th?

Yes, making the finals this season will give our rookies a taste of Sept footy - this will be an invaluable experience for their development and confidence.

And who knows, we could manage to pull one out of the fire and make it into the second week - stranger things have happened!!

                      • the idea that not making the finals would somehow be good for the club is bs. to make the finals this year was always going to be a struggle, so not making them wouldn't be surprising. but more importantly i want a team that goes out and tries to win every week

If only making the finals then getting knocked out is our goal then we’ve been very successful. The ill discipline is the difference between making a token final and winning the premiership. So the question should be how many premierships have we forfeited through ill discipline.

It’s stopped us from making the gf and winning premierships so it’s quite serious.

I reckon we are likely to win 3 of the remaining 6 games. I have us going down to the Finns, Dogs & Storm, with Manly and Eels (with Moses back) giving us a run for our money. The only consolation is that we couldn’t possibly lose to Souths the way they are going. We ain’t making the 8 this year.

                                The answer is none.
