They are the future but if we want to win a comp in 2026 then they aren't the answer, they struggled to beat the Dragons on Saturday night, Walker will obviously improve within the next 4-6 weeks and get back to the form we know he's capable of but for me Savala is simply solid right now.Originally posted by Crab View Post
Very impressed with Hugo and Sam and believe they are our future .
This weeks comparison, we'll have to use DCE's stats from last week as Manly had a bye but...
DCE against Souths: 1 try, 1 line break assist, 1 try assist, 1 tackle break, 20 tackles, 3 misses, 564 kicking metres, 1 repeat set, 1 error
Savala and Walker against Dragons: 0 tries, 1 line break assist, 2 try assists, 3 tackle breaks, 38 tackles, 6 missed, 499 kicking metres, 1 repeat set, 2 errors
---
As you can see in the stats DCE edges out both of our halves again in everything except try assists and tackle breaks, DCE did have a hand in everything, almost got an additional 2 try assists and did score a try though so for mine he outplayed our halves again single handedly.
We're mental if we don't sign DCE for at least the 2026 season.

A bit hard comparing stats when we played a Dragons team at full strength who should have beaten the competition leaders the week before and Manly played a severely depleted team coming equal last at the time.Originally posted by MKCS View Post

To be fairer can you put up the stats for DCE's game against the Dragons? I think Manly struggled a bit more against the Dragons than we did.

DCE Vs Dragons: 121 running metres, 1 try assist, 13 tackles, 2 missed, 1 repeat set, 315 kicking metres, 1 error.
Not as great of a game as he had against Souths but still quite effective with some really nice running stats (Both Savala and Walker only managed a combined 94), a repeat set and a try assist. The 315 kicking metres is surprisingly low for him.
Exclusively against the Dragons I would say Walker outplayed DCE due to Walker making 2 tackle breaks but alas Walker missed a whole lot more tackles than DCE. DCE against the Dragons in Aprl outplayed Savala.

Great stats for a million dollar player and they lost to a team that had Ilias and Flanno as their halves.
Keep dreaming stats.

I know everyone puts their hope in Walker but opponents are just running through him to score because of his size. He just can’t handle fast players running at him. His defense has been mediocre letting in two tries in two weeks.“Soon will the present day order be rolled up, and a new one spread out in its stead”- (Baha’u’llah)

I can’t see him being able to do anything about it as it’s beyond his league to stop opponents running over the top of him. They isolate him then sprint over the top of him. Just don’t let him be isolated close to the line because it’s almost a certain try and opposing teams twice have successfully exploited this vulnerability. I don’t know what else we can do about it. Release him? Not if we can fix this gaping weakness in his defense.Originally posted by Inflictor View Post

If his dad and uncle get the coaching gig at the titans next year, we may well be without him in 2027 anyway.Originally posted by roosterchook View PostI know everyone puts their hope in Walker but opponents are just running through him to score because of his size.
