  • Atm I'm still a no for DCE. We've seen the best of what DCE can offer. Solid in his day, but not a Cronk 2.0. From what I've been told by Manly fans Jurbo is the heart and soul of their team and the players turn to him for leadership, not DCE.

I want to reserve my final call on this until after we have seen the Hugo-Walker combo in action for a few games. I believe their styles will compliment each others. So atm I'm leading towards a no.

    • like it or not DCE is the signing we need here. As I said what happens god forbid if Sammy gets hurt again then we are back to having Sanden back at half again. I like him just not in the half’s
DCE will give us that game manager we are looking for. if we would have won a lot more games this year.
I can’t wait for him to arrive!!

At his age, I agree that his best years would be behind him, but even not at his best I think he has a lot to offer and I really believe that a change of scenery will have him fired up and playing pretty good footy.

I'd actually compare it signing 35yr old Paul Langmack in 1999
Both great players in their prime but father time is undefeated

More like the Paul Vautin signing.
Manly telling a club legend to FO because he's too fkn old and should retire.

Another one of Gould's bone headed decisions.

Didn't Gould do something bizzare with Graham Appo that year also in the semis or something position wise ????

                • NO to DCE still.

The club has decided to go a different way this year. Stick to it.

DCE to me, comes across as a sook, trouble maker and a divisive character.

Walker is our number 7 period.

Gussy had a light bulb moment and decided to start Appo in the halves.
                    It backfired badly.
No wonder he's never returned to coach at club level.

                    • i'd be happy if we don't sign him. not so much because he won't be good but because it will mean we don't have money for other players and because hugo and sammy look an okay combo.
but if we do sign him i'd be on board

Do you ever get tired of regurgitating the same old tedious crap every single post you make?

Seriously, you could put a glass eye to sleep.
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

I agree Fatty was a terrible signing and there are parallels with DCE. Fatty was unceremoniously dumped by the chip stealers in his testimonial year ffs . Signed by the Roosters and did sfa for us ! A complete ungrateful waste of time and effort . I hope we have learned from that huge mistake but I'm not confident that we have. Very impressed with Hugo and Sam and believe they are our future .

Appo was a gun fullback at the Rams but played mostly off the bench for us.

As we have learnt Gus still to this day loves to tinker with a winning formula...
