  • Looks like the car salesman has been sold a lemon.
Surely Nick can find a way to get out of him coming here.

DCE should have retired last year, he has dropped off massively this year.
Manly should do what Queensland done drop him to reserve grade.

Second best half on the field tonight as part of a woeful Manly side.

Yep you're 100% correct with this response -DCE was clearly outplayed by Jayden Campbell

Just as JC outplayed Sandon and Chad T earlier this year aswell. No shame in it sometimes. A fantastic young half on his day Campbell is.

          • Hate to beat a dead horse but...

Both Roosters halves today combined: 1 try, 1 try assist, 1 tackle break, 3 errors, 0 line break assists, 1 missed tackle, 1 forced dropout, 470 kicking metres, two mistakes that lead directly to Tigers points.

Daly Cherry-Evans: 1 try, 1 try assist, 1 tackle break, 1 line break assist, 1 error, 3 missed tackles, 1 forced dropout, 564 kicking metres, zero mistakes that lead to a try and had a hand in all but one Manly try

Souths were closer to full strength than the Tigers were also.

If your point is that DCE is better than our halves, we all know this.

                Speak for yourself.

Souffs are shite and Manly were on today. Judging DCE on his last 2 Origin performances is a better indicator of his ability.

I'd take Hugo over DCE thanks. Sandon doesn't have the right temperament for the NRL.

I've had many a debate with people here who have said that Sandon and Savala are both better as individuals than DCE but the reality is that DCE is outpacing them in key stats combined for this season. When this is brought up the argument changes to "Well, Hugo and Sandon are winning" despite most of our playmaking going through Tedesco and Watson and Manly being pretty equal with us throughout the year.

Tigers are shit as well, both teams are bottom four, Tigers were without 3/4 of their starting spine and our halves had their pants pulled down by Adam Doueihi who is their back up half and usually plays centre.

                  Key stats for both

DCE: 4 tries, 4 linebreaks, 9 linebreak assists, 14 try assists, 15 offloads, 24 tackle breaks, 6707 kicking metres

Hugo: 3 tries, 1 linebreak, 1 linebreak assist, 6 try assists, 4 offloads, 7 tacklebreaks, 4326 kicking metres.

                  ---

As you can see DCE doubles or triples Hugo in most of these, numbers don't lie.

So why did Slater dump DCE ? This is more telling than any stat! QLD win the next game with a new halfback. Go figure.

Hugo is 22 and will continue to develop his game. DCE flopped at Origin level in his last 2 outings for QLD. His best years are behind him. He's on the decline. He'll be 37 next season. YES 37 lol.

So how much do player managers earn these days?

You keep leaving Sammy out of this discussion for some reason?

would we have had the same chance of winning today if either Walker or DCE played? Or only if DCE played for us?

He dumped DCE because Dearden was the "right man for the job" whatever that means. QLD did win the next game but almost blew a 20 point lead in one of the worst second half performances of a winning team ever.

                          Sammy hasn't played this year.

If DCE OR Walker play for us today we win. DCE and Walker will win us a comp

DCE isn’t winning anything. Will only get older and slower and we can all clearly see he isn’t at his peak anymore. Many matches (quite a few against shite teams) you can point to in which DCE’s experience didn’t get Manly home.

To us though, Sandon clearly isn’t up to it. Walker back should reduce a lot of the playmaking errors that Sandon makes.
                            EASTS TO WIN!

You're right, he isn't at his peak but he's still significantly outdoing both of our halves combined so what does that say about them? They're both in their early twenties being outdone by an old slow man (Your words, not mine). I'd say Hugo and Sandon aren't the only halves pairing being single handedly outdone by DCE either.

Whether you or others here like it or not the reality is that DCE is tied first for try assists by a halfback for season 2025, he's sixth for linebreak assists by a halfback, fifth for kicking metres by a halfback, fourth for tackle breaks by a halfback and leads the offloads for a halfback. This is a year for him where he's unhappy and playing as part of a poor Manly side, those stats would presumably increase once he's here at the Roosters pairing up with Walker and playing in a better side.

Ultimately the question is who are we better off leading us to try and win a comp in season 2026? Anyone saying Savala or Smith is just biased if you ask me.

and DCE doesn’t play for us, so it all just a silly comparison.

The only reason to compare DCE to our current halves would have been if we were trying to sign DCE for this year, which was never going to happen. Any number of other halves in the comp this year would have also helped us win more games this year, but why compare players that weren’t a chance of playing for us,next year was never going to be Sandon and Hugo together.

individually, neither Sandon or Hugo are better than DCE, but both would be better with either DCE or Walker partnering them.

i do really hope that Sammy/DCE deliver us a premiership next year like you said they will though.
