It doesn't do us any favours to have DCE and the Whisperer drag this out for so long. What is the point of this game?
"I don't know what I am doing next year, I might retire and reduce my income by 800k or I might play on for 1 or 2 years at age 40..I might even grow a beard..I might even try and get people to like me somehow"
Just announce what you are doing. You are a hard person to like and the longer you drag it on the more people despise you.

Gragra does raise a relevant point though. We do have the money for DCE due to a young roster who will not reach their potential (peak earnings) for a few years. I think some fans on this forum forget that point and see the DCE signing as costing us young stars. We have who we want to keep. Savala going nowhere. Sandon was always leaving.

If we use that money to forward pay then that will ease the pressure valve when Toia has a few of his mates joining him at SOO or playing for NZ.
Plus Payne and Ponga are also on their way.

I can't see Ponga happening. More likely Teddy will play on for a few more years.
Payne though. I am sure we would want him even at a high price. He will probably just use us again to bump up his value with the Broncos. If it does happen then I expect us to lose Leniu in the process.

But it is like a racing stable buying six 2 year old colts and hoping one can make the Golden Slipper field.
All our 6 have made the Golden Slipper field and we have weanlings expected to do the same thing.
Would we be looking at DCE if he became available as of today? Is it too late to backflip? Time will tell.
