haha, showing my age more likely.

i've been googling the match and watching crowd reactions. great to see a lot of happy aussies around the place. making the semis means that the campaign has been a success but a nagging voice is saying that this is our best chance to win a soccer world cup, probably ever, and we need to make the most of it. but that's not the way for the girls to think and i trust they'll be thinking one game at a time

We did go agonisingly close to winning one at Junior level with The Joeys I think losing a penalty shootout to Brazil in the final where in the shootout they had a kick to win it which hit the post

Went for a walk today and good to see so many different varieties of Australian sporting kit worn in support of our girls for tonight, will be massive if they can get over the top of a very good England team.

A lot of Rose Bay shops are decorated too..normally its just for Roosters grand finals around here....

One of the girls from work came up from Melbourne for City to Surf with her nephew and they ran into the Matildas at the airport on Sunday..they got a photo with Sam Kerr. I'm going to stay up past 9pm tonight..

This game already feels faster than the last two. England quite aggressive and asking lots of questions.

Kennedy is a massive out as she's been a rock at the back. Poms are showing why they are the Euro champs they are very relaxed on the ball whilst our girls haven't had the confidence to play it out from the back and resorted to long balls.

Australia too tentative and too much negative back passing. Ellie Carpenter needed to shoot for goal instead of trying that wayward cross in the box

England are being given too much time and space with the ball and the Australian defenders are not marking up leaving England players unmarked.

Australia/s main attack is coming off counters and Sam Kerr and Mary Fowler are not being provided with any quality clean ball.

Big 45 plus minutes coming up.

Australia has to lift and change the momentum as England would happy to grind out a 1-0 win if need be as they are not be put under much pressure or being tested.

Gees the Australian Corners are poor - only decent one was the one the ref pulled up for some push and shove in the box

Had their chances just couldn't nail them - mistakes costly in the end.

3rd place game now vs Sweden - Not sure how either side will get up for that especially Australia who looked a little off the pace for a large part of the game
