  • I don't recall Airbus Albo declaring a national holiday or turning up for photo ops in Budapest after Nina Kennedy won gold in the pole vault event at the world Championships a few days ago.

If only she liked other women and was tinted, he might have showed up.
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

all credit to kenndy but australia has a long tradition of winning gold medals and it's not usual to declare public holidays when we do and nothing wrong with pole vaulting but it doesn't come close to the world wide participation that soccer has.
don't know where you got that stuff about liking other women and being tinted but winning a soccer world cup is a big thing. australia punches above its weight when it comes to sport but not in the world's most popular game. whether a public holiday was the way to go is another question but the matildas game v england smashed all tv ratings records so clearly a lot of aussies were on board

        All fair points.

I notice the Matildas dropped a spot on the world ranking ladder.
