Yes Swans are on a run at present Hopefully Richmond can do us a favour and best St Kilda. Did you watch any of Matilda’s match on the big screen at SCG

Watched it on the TVs inside the members bar at Allianz until the end of normal time and then watched it on my phone for extra time and the penalty shoot out. Was in the Noble for the Swans game and apparently at 3 quarter time one of the patrons sitting near us said people had already started queuing to get inside the Noble stand to watch the Matildas but they weren't letting anybody in till the Swans had finished. It had on the screen on at Swans that you could only view the match on the big screen from the Brewongle concourse and Level 2 of the Noble so i was happy to go the Allianz members where they opened the doors at 5pm and had plenty of TVs showing it.

It would be great if the Bulldogs, St Kilda and GWS all lose today.
Can't see the Bulldogs losing to Hawthorn today but Richmond beating St Kilda is a real possibility especially the way St Kilda have been fading in the second half recently and also although Port Adelaide have gone off the boil they could still beat GWS, anything is possible from 6th -13th spot and even if the Swans miss out at least it has made an exciting end to the season.

        • great win. nothing more dramatic than a penalty shoot out. courtney vine's goal the most significant in aus football since jimmy mackay banged it from outside the penalty box in hong kong to kick us into the finals for the first time

Oh Zac I’d say your getting rather sentimental there or maybe just trying to show us all the wonderful football knowledge you have

Petsonally I’d rate both Harry Kewells and Matthew Leckies goals that took us to the final 16 of the World Cup above Jimmy Mackay goal

Ooh, excellent. I do like the Swans. I’m supposed to support Richmond because of hubby but I actually supported Hawthorn as a kid / teen and always had a big soft spot for the Swans too. It sounds like you had a brilliant day of sport yesterday. It also looks like we’re all in agreement here that the Tigers need to win today - to have a happy household here and to help the Swans!

Looks like the Hawthorn did the Swans a big favour and beat the Bulldogs so the Swans are now in the 8 officially this round but depends on how they other games go whether they are in 6th , 7th or 8th, So go Richmond and Port Adelaide.

Go Hawks. As for the Tigers, it’s not looking too good at the moment.

Yes been watching the score, St Kilda have been collapsing in the second half lately but it will have to be one big mighty collapse with the way the game is going at the moment.

Yes I’ve just seen Hawthorne won so Sean’s destiny is now in their own hands from here

Whilst I understand the excitement A polite reminder this is the FIFA Women’s World Cup thread

Fair point and apologies for my part in the subject deviation, but a polite counter would be that the Hutchinator and KS have nothing to do with the women’s soccer World Cup either.

OH MR no need for an apology Hutch strode over as I was typing so could not help but comment Then RT responded with a humorous post to which I responded to and then quickly moved back to the FIFA Women’s World Cup

Now on last nights game I think the one thing that hadn’t been mentioned was for a 0-0 match it was very exciting The game had real momentum shifts and ebbs and flows where both sides were completely dominant and the other side hanging on for dear life.

It would also be remiss of me not too mention some of the very good looking fit women out on the field with in no particular order Hayley Raso Mary Fowler Selma Bacha and Sakina Karchaoui my personal favourites

Is this thread officially sanctioned by FIFA Good to see GWS is getting flogged at the moment. But back on topic bring on Australia vs England.

haha, showing my age more likely.

i've been googling the match and watching crowd reactions. great to see a lot of happy aussies around the place. making the semis means that the campaign has been a success but a nagging voice is saying that this is our best chance to win a soccer world cup, probably ever, and we need to make the most of it. but that's not the way for the girls to think and i trust they'll be thinking one game at a time
