I am talking about the change from last week mate.. positional changes were made during the week which made key differences.

How you all of a sudden drag in the off-season to all of a sudden explain the difference between round 4 and round 5 is outstanding

Wouldn't it make some sense after 5 wks it's starting to click, especially Pearce, Maubs, SKiD, Pezzdispenser, our most potent side back intact???
"starting to click"? A bit early to say that at all imo. We've gone through some really inconsistent performances and you could easily just as say that performance was a one-off. We shall see if we have actually really "clicked", as you say, by 10 rounds time. The warriors were really really poor and made us look good.

Whether we can flog GC next week could be an entirely different story.

I've repeatedly said the team named on Tuesday has very little to do with what the players know is going to happen. Wasn't Mortein twatting on Wednesday he was out???

How you can't see that our attack isn't a work in progress cos of our two centers not starting the season is astounding IMO. Can't you at least see we train all offseason to play a certain style and when that gets disrupted we need to change things, game plans, positions, personel etc??? Now we are forming some combos and players are gaining some match fitness the game plans changing.

Why is it too early to say starting to click??? If I'd said we've clicked, yeah maybe, but starting is meaning exactly that, it's a start.

Don't rely on winning next week. We will be inconsistent thru this season, that's a given IMO.

Haven't you learnt as yet unrealistic expectations are just that??? Or do you want us to not meet those unrealistic expectation so you can do a I told you so post???

IMO it is all about holding the ball and playing with controlled aggression. Thats what we did last night. In the past we have been guilty of giving away ridiculous penalties whilst trying to prove we are the toughest guys out there. Piggy backing teams downfield.

Last night we played smart footy. The one mental lapse was Lama Tasi playing the ball and not facing square. They scored a play or 2 later. Other than that, we bashed them 'legally' and held the ball. There were no fumbles in the tackle. There was no dropping the ball when trying to play it. No kicking out on the full.

For once we were more disciplined than the opposition (in regards to holding possession)

You sound like a know all big mouth, repeatedly suggesting we should learn from you. Just give your opinion, you have a right to do that, but dont preach a bloody sermon.

Sometimes he comes across like that But he usually is close to the money if not right on it with what he is saying

Every week every game is different People seem to forget this or just not realise it

As I keep saying its about having confidence. The key point the players and Smithy emphasised was starting well...and playing through the disappointments and bad decisions that come up every game. We did this for 80 minutes last night.

The other thing was the intimidation factor...we were pretty brutal with them and they couldnt handle it. Thats why they played "bad".

I think the all white strip and having the 2002 guys around helped too.

                    2. Mitchell - outstanding dummy half game.

                    Anthony Mitchell MOM for me
He only played for 30 minutes unfortunately & I know it was a good 30 minutes but I think overall Maubs who played 80 minutes was better.

A Mitchell was going fine until he scored his try & that was it for him, Smith banished him to the sheds for the rest of the game for deviating away from the game plan.

Obviously. I am saying that changes were made from last week's team which helped us, not because of the team lists. *Everyone* including the players know that the teams named on Tuesday are never the final sides that run out onto the field. I don't get why you needed to mention that we are not on the same page here...

As for Moga, i never got the impression that he was going to start this season round 1 even if he was fully fit in the pre-season, IMO. SKD's injury and the positional changes thereafter were the only ones forced in the backline. I'm calling it now, Smith won't use Moga yet, and he never intended it so soon like u were suggesting, until the latter half of the season <----- happy to be proven wrong.

Is stringing 3 wins back to back an unrealistic expectation? This is pretty much the same side as last season. They've had all off-season to prepare for this. We finished the year so well last year, and now winning then losing in such horrible fashions etc etc is acceptable?

That's fair enough, I can accept criticism.

All good mate. I respect your opinions even if we don't agree, and I see merit in a lot of whet you've said here.

Just a few things, same team as last season, no way. Conn, Riddel, Ryles, Myles, Carntey, Linnett mate thats a lot of expierence to be replaced by Mortein. Sure we look similar to those last 4 games last year, but we were unable to make the 8 at that stage and had a morale boosting run without pressure.

The Moga point you make is a good one and you may very well be right. I guess we will never know now. Still he must've been injured, otherwise he'd have played in some grade in rnds 1-3 you would imagine???

I still maintain, IMO a work in progress, we may very well have disasters like last week, we are young and learning, it takes time to build consistency.

Hope we win next week, I hated going to UnSkilled last year and leaving so underwhelmed.

Attitude was the big difference and that must be credited to Smith.

To turn the confidence of these young players around in one week after a 40 point thumping to produce that, credit where its due to Smith.

The other massive difference was the service from the ruck. Ant Mitchell was fantastic giving Pearce early ball so he could give SKD room to move.

Our Pigs were fantastic. JWH, Kennedy and FPN won the middle against a massive pack. Taka must stay in first grade, this kid can play in both attack and defence. Special mention JWH for finally showing his motor.

Mini is still a liability. His miss on Fish was woeful and I remember him being unable to run around Russel Packer. He played good but he'll never be great again and you need great from your fullback. We'd have been up by much more had we an attacking fullback in the first half.

                                Chook.
