Guys the difference is obvious. We held the bloody ball. Makes a massive difference. And instead of playing tough, but dumb footy, we played tough and smart. That is the difference. And I know we did not win the penalty count but there were few 'piggy back' penaltys that usually kill us.
It was aggressive and smart footy tonight.Embrace the Hate! JC

We had a 2 try lead. While ever we were in front friend was going to stay on for his defence. If we went behind, he would have brought Mitchell on.Originally posted by Assyrian_Pimp:191467is Smith not hooking Friend for Mitchell just to piss me off? ffs, he is the worst attacking hooker in the gameEmbrace the Hate! lol. did we? Our attack was much more crisp, fast and our players stood deep enough in attack to gain momentum. The warriors as a result couldnt keep up with us in that opening exchange. That, i thought, was obvious why we looked so good - apart from the warriors defence being shit

agree with the general sentiment. while i wont go so far as to say that friend is 'ineffective' and 'useless' the way that smith used friend and mitchell to complement each other made a massive difference. pearce also really took control over the game. anasta got out of the way and spent most of the game out wide on the left edge unless he was required from time to time to take pressure off pearce. the extra responsibility allowed him to take his game to the next level.
mini was brilliant and our attack finally had the semblence of a structure which is refreshing. our right edge is back to its dangerous best. if only we can get our right edge together and we will suddenly be a force to be reckoned with in attack. our pack was brilliant and played well together.
not perfect but a lot better and testament to what a 'team' performance and a bit of confidence in our play can produce. we need to get moga in on the left edge and potentially tagive as well to try and emulate the potency of our right edge over on the left. now that anasta wont be here next year, this is the perfect opportunity to get rookies like moga and tagive in down the left where they can benefit from braiths experience and great defence.

Why not bring Mitchell on and make it a 4 try lead?
Besides, it was a 3 try lead when Mitchell came off

exactly. it was clear as day that we came there with structure and an attack we practiced all weekOriginally posted by fitzy View PostThe big change tonight was we had some simple structure and set plays.
we still need to work on our last tackle options though..... we decided to chance our hand too many times on the last and got caught with the ball in hand. a simple pass to braith or pearce for a behind-the-line grubber is sufficient..
