So, what's the difference?

There was one inside ball, but it was more of an out ball in ball play like the Storm run, instead of a run draw and pass inside. God I hope they keep working on their structured attacking plays. Get Freddy on board, he was the master of constructing set plays back in '08.Originally posted by Stumpy View PostTwo differences .... we had two playmakers
1. Pearce - great game - can't remember even one lameduck inside pass.
2. Mitchell - outstanding dummy half game.
Anthony Mitchell MOM for me

I think it's a bit rich to blame Smith for all our woes when things are down, but when we play a little better to try and hand the credit to Elliot.Originally posted by Chook Norris View Postwell a lot of us on this forum have been suggesting he instil more structure for a while now
maybe Elliot is having more input?

Thanks Yak. Good to hear Moga played well.Originally posted by Yak View PostThey need to learn to play when Kane Evans is off the field. They completely lose their bundle once he has to go off. They led 28-12 with about 25 to go and got run down eventually for the draw (to Fletch, I know NRL stats says the Warriors tries were in the last two minutes but that is wrong they got within 4 with 12 mins to go i think and levelled with 6 left). Roosters should have sealed the win with 2 mins left. Moga made a clean break but the fullback came across in cover and instead of going himself he tried to pass inside to an unmarked Rokolati and the ball came out forwards cos it was a difficult one hander. If he had his time over he'd had taken him on. Worst result play thh ball 5 metres out with 4 tackles left. Moga got a long range try earlier on. Beat his centre easy, fended the covering winger and ran around the fullback on the outside to score. Boy was he happy when he scored. Looked like a big weight had been lifted off his shoulders. Best run of the game goes to Kane Evans though. From a kick-off in the second half he decided to take on the winger down the sideline, got around him and went 70m upfield. Unfortunately Joey Forrester knocked on as the ball was spread with space in front of him. Kane was buggered and had to come off not long after. Probably cost us the game in a way cos Warriors scored next set and gained the ascendency with Evans off the field. Hopefully when Tago comes back they won't have to pick Tuivasa in the team. He's so slow on his own line and looked pedestrian on one of the Warriors comeback tries. Also need Jack Siejka back to replace Sam Bernstrom who is the weakest defender in the team and got dominated close to the line twice for Warriors tries. The loss of Dane Atkinson for the year has proved a massive blow to their defence. RTS played pretty well again without being spectacular. Was better under the high ball than previous weeks. Didn't beat as many tackles as last game I saw and toned down his involvement unfortunately. Nabbed a try though off an O'Sullivan break and showed good pace and great confidence beating two players in the in-goal just to make sure it was under the posts haha.

perhaps. but we were an entirely different teamOriginally posted by Dubai View PostI think it's a bit rich to blame Smith for all our woes when things are down, but when we play a little better to try and hand the credit to Elliot.
what changes in a week that makes us play entirely different with structure? i dont know. Something obviously changed with the coaching
also, the comment regarding Smith finally listening was tongue in cheek lol. i doubt he reads these forums..

Could it maybe be that we trained with Moga and SKiD all offseason as the centres and bang b4 we get to round 1 we lose them both???Originally posted by Chook Norris View Postperhaps. but we were an entirely different team

Wouldn't you think that changes the structure of the attack dramatically???
Wouldn't you think that means it takes time to adjust things, especially on field with such a young squad and so many changes positionally???
Wouldn't it make some sense after 5 wks it's starting to click, especially Pearce, Maubs, SKiD, Pezzdispenser, our most potent side back intact???
Wouldn't it make sense rushing SKiD back, he's a seasoned 1st grader. But not rushing Moga back, he's a kid who hasn't even debuted as yet and could be ruined not being physically and mentally ready???
So far I've seen it's Smiffs fault when we lose, but Elliot or JTs fault when we win. What a toss. You and many others need to stop reading Fredos tripe, IMO.

Agreed mate, KISS was the mantra early on, now we are getting settled with combos and fitness we are seeing some more attractive structure in attack.Originally posted by Andrew Walker View PostYour answer I would say is spot on pRETTY SIMPLE REALLY i ACTUALLY MADE THE COMMENT AFRE THE sOUTHS MATCH ii THOUGHT OUR GAME PLAN WAS DELIBERATE AND THAT THE COACHING STAFF HAD US PLAYING TO WHAT HE BELIEVED WAS OUR STRENGTHS HAVING LOST BOTH CENTRES SOME ARE NOT VERY QUICK TO CATCH ON NOT MUCH FOOTY KNOWLEDGE
