Not quite as good but I once had Freddy and Fitzy talking to my Mother on my mobile one Monday morning at Bronte Beach after I’d just got out of the surf. My Mum thought it was some of my mates taking the piss it took them a while for them to believe it was themOriginally posted by Thirteen View PostRicko and Aubo have both been to my house. Good story and well said.Originally posted by Easts75 View PostMy best mate I work with his Son is basically with the squad 24/7. Started with the club in the Covid bubble in QLD placed with Roosters by NRL. Made a huge impression particularly on Robbo and they 'signed' him from NRL. Is always on the field, in the sheds, video sessions etc so i hear some great stories and have seen some funny videos. I tell you what, he is as solid as a rock when it comes to injuries and signings with the club though, gives nothing away. Organisers some great videos for my 7 year old for Birthdays etc which she loves. I know Cath King is beyond important and popular with the club, but honestly triple that and thats what the players and staff think of her. When we mention Uncle Nick, we should probably mention Cath...obviously in a different way though

1. Being shitty with my fitness trainer for him partnering me with this old bloke and then him telling me I was a disgrace for a Roosters supporter for not recognising my partner……it was Kevin Hastings…..and he made me his bitch.
2. Cornering Artie Beetson to tell him how much I loved his book “Big Artie” and then the two of us sitting down for an hour to discuss how soft rugby league had become.
Best Scoop: The week before the 2019 GF a mate had lunch with Uncle Nick who told him this will be Latrell’s last game for the Roosters
Worst interaction: My childhood hero Brad Fittler - Admittedly he had just signed 1,000 signatures but I was literally the last person in the queue and he said that was enough and walked off. The marketing person apologised and got him back. He grabbed the poster, scribbled something on it (not his signature) and threw it and the pen back at me. He was not my hero after that.

I was at 2002 grand final breakfast and chatted with Freddie....spoken to Robbo a few times...initially met him when I was doing altitude training for Nepal at Concord Altitude Centre and he was training for Kilimanjaro in 2019. Sat with Mark Harris at a Rooster game one year, a real gentleman. Now I get to chat with Mini , as he is building his new house around the corner from our place. Always friendly....

Grew up in Bondi in the 60's and 70's when most of the players lived and worked locally. Used to delivered 'first scorer' tickets to Bill Mullins each week and he'd sell them at work for us. Both him and Jim Porter worked as garbo's for Waverly council and collected our bins twice a week back then. Also used to collect balls for Allan McKean while he practised goal kicking at Waverly oval and used to annoy Kevin Junee weekly when he opened his sports store in the Junction. Plenty of interaction with the players before home games as well - they would sit with their families on the small grassed hill near the dressing rooms at the old Sports Ground and were always very kind to the kids who approached them.
Too young to get on the turps then but did an apprenticeship at the same place as John Tobin and had a few beers with him over the years. He took a few weeks off before the 1980 grand final and never came back to work after it!

In the early 90's my local pub was The Dunbar Hotel.
Every Tuesday night they would hold a badge draw.
Of course you had to be there between 6pm and 7pm to claim the cash if your badge number was called, if no one claimed the prize it jack-potted.
Long story short the badge draw reached 3 grand before one lucky punter collected.
That punter was Mr Craig Salvitori!!!! He put the lot on the bar. It was a lovely gesture from my favourite Rooster.

my most memorable meeting was with jack gibson in a lift one time. it was towards the end, he was shaking a bit, we talked a little and i don't remember what he said but i walked away feeling feeling like inside even that frail body was a big spirit

It’s surmising how people are perceived as to how the actually are. I lived in Newtown up until a few years ago so would see blokes out & some are what you expect & others are different. At the time a single dad with a 15 yr old lad living with me, up until he was 20 & loved going back to the club & meeting all the players before then going to the pubs when old enough.
*At the club one night & Napa was having a drink with Pearce & he turned around & knocked a drink out of my lads hand do he took off his Roosters tie, signed it & gave it to him. Had a chat & a photo & he was all class.
*Pearce was fine & said hello but it looked like he was a bit over signing autographs & just wanted to be a lad & gave a laugh which I could understand as it would surely get to you getting pestered whenever out.
*Fergo once just gave me & my lad a filthy look as if yo say how dare you look at me or want a photo etc, just seemed fiery stand offish.
*JWH up at Wyong took photos with my lad,had a chat, shook hands etc & you could see how much the fans meant to him.
* My lad then worked at Kuetos Bar in Newtown & Hayne come in. Took pics with my lad,had a chat & couldn’t have been better.
* Living in Tumut & Justin Carney was once married to my missos friend & he is a hated man here. Went to the UK while she was pregnant, cheated on her & the family is a very long term old school local family & he comes back every now & again & has always thought he was a hero & too good for everyone.

Brian Smith came up to me on the side line during a kids coaching clinic years ago. We ended up chatting for 30 minutes straight as he went through almost the whole team and gave me the goss on every player. Strengths etc. awesome bloke actually.
If you dig around, I posted a thread about it on this forum about 10-15 years ago.Exonerate the West Memphis Three - www.wm3.org
