In fantasy footy, yep agree. In real life, not close. An honest toiler nothing more. Its no good running for 150m a game if you get dominated in the tackle meaning your play the ball is so slow that the next runner gets belted setting your whole attacking set back. He's just too small and that 103kg weight somebody listed, that must have been his off season weight. He was in the Country Origin team last season and I saw a sheet which monitored the players weight over the week. He had his playing weight listed as 98kg.
Don't confuse getting dominated with not bending the line, he rarely gets dominated and is very strong in the wrestle (as all Melbourne players are). 150 metres, for no errors & 30-40 tackles for very few missed is more than just an honest toiler. He should of played for NSW last year.
Tolman is one of the best props in the game and on one can change my mind.. He's very error-free and doesn't go for any risky offloads, just does his job. As for metres, he's great in that department too. He kinda reminds me of Hindmarsh.. Gives 100% week in week out, always in the right place at the right time, absolute workhorse. Getting Tolman would be great since we have a few impact props, it would be nice getting one that plays high minutes.
If Kennedy doesn't come back well, he'd be a great acquisition for the club, although I doubt it will happen (Kennedy not coming back well that is haha)
He is a worker, what we need to pair up with Tasi/Masoe etc.
he would be a great foil for JWH, tasi, Kennedy and Masoe who although most of whom have pretty decent workrates, are all big powerful players. He has proven that he is not too small for prop despite his size which is reinforced by a stat i heard this year that detailed him as the player who took the most runs and made the most metres inside his own half out of any player in the comp over the year which is not a bad endorsement to suggest that he is not too small and does not shirk the tough stuff. If we cant accomodate him at prop, he would be a more than handy 13. I see tolman as a replacement for myles without the attitude. He has the leadership skills, build and workrate to play 13 and 8 equally well and considering we have lost ryles and myles and do not have a recognised 13 going into this year and are relying on a lot of youngsters to look after our frontrow, he would be the perfect fit either in the backrow or at prop imo depending upon which of our younger players fit the team best.
ADDITIONAL RUMOUR: Apparently Tom Briscoe (England International) is currently in Aus and has fielded offers from a number of clubs. Pretty good young 3/4 with great speed and hands. Not sure if we are interested and im not sure that he is the sort of player we need especially considering he would be demanding a fair wage but i would not be disappointed if we were to pick him up. More food for thought....

Don't confuse fantasy stats with what you see in real life. He's the most one dimensional front rower playing the game....another Danny Nutley, but if you want him in your team thats great. If he was such a great front rower, giving his team such great metres and dominance, why did the Dogs have to go out and spend big dollars on Graham, and why would Hasler be even contemplating getting rid of him? The guys a toiler and god help us if he is the answer at Origin level.

why the dogs went out and bought graham was beyond haslers control. The true motive behind hasler looking to get rid of him is that he needs to free up cash. tolman is on a pretty decent salary and considering they only just signed graham and graham and tolman are seen as very similar style players, tolman appears to be the weakest link. i however would love to see him in RW&B. he is a very good player. what we need is "one dimensional" players and "toilers" to complement the enigmas like masoe. its all about balance.

I'm not arguing about him being a toiler or whether we need him or not, I'm arguing about Rooster_6 saying he's one of the best young front rowers in the game which he clearly isn't. He's a beast when you look at his stats but you know what they say about stats.....they are like mini skirts....they reveal a lot but hide the best bits!

There are some good Youtube clips of Tom Briscoe. Looks fast and evasive.

Yeh makes plenty of tackles at a high efficiency rate, plenty of metres for no errors and rarely gives away penalties.
But bro he doesn't have a hektic offload or makes 100m linebreaks because that's what we need from our props
The role of a prop is one dimensional, it's why they're affectionately known as bookends. Adding variety to the role has worked successfully in recent years with 'power runners' but we're hardly short of those in Masoe, Evans, JWH, Tasi & Ailomai. Having the right balance is they key, it's ignorant to think we can succeed with just power runners or just toilers like Tolman.
Who cares if Dessie doens't want him, same people used that excuse when Bennett didn't want Ryles and we picked him up... look how bad that turned out

David Stagg makes plenty of tackles at high efficiency too, its easy these days, just flop on a guy third man in. I guess we want different things from our front rowers, but thats what makes the world go around. Would be pretty boring if we all had the same opinion.
