Apparently tolman is being shopped around as hasler looks to make room for foran and possibly stewarts. I smell BS but something to discuss nonetheless. If true, we would be silly not to make a play for him. With myles and ryles leaving, his workrate, consistency and toughness is what we need. turns 24 next year with 75 games of firsts over 4 seasons and a gf under his belt.

Tolman's one of if not the best young prop in the game imo.
He's a real toiler, no errors plenty of metres and tackles.
I was calling for the club to sign him when he left Melbourne, to pick him up now would be awesome. I'd be surprised if Des let him go but then again I've been openly against playing Graham & Tolman together as they lack potency as a pairing so maybe not...

In fantasy footy, yep agree. In real life, not close. An honest toiler nothing more. Its no good running for 150m a game if you get dominated in the tackle meaning your play the ball is so slow that the next runner gets belted setting your whole attacking set back. He's just too small and that 103kg weight somebody listed, that must have been his off season weight. He was in the Country Origin team last season and I saw a sheet which monitored the players weight over the week. He had his playing weight listed as 98kg.Originally posted by Rooster_6 View PostTolman's one of if not the best young prop in the game imo.

He is still only 23, and is no doubt continuing to develop his body. Whilst not comparing his play to Shane Webcke, they are the same height, and Webcke was not always the 112kg or so he finished playing at. We could do alot worse than having him in the team rotating with Kennedy. A good foil for the likes of JWH, Masoe and Tasi.Originally posted by Headless Chook View PostIn fantasy footy, yep agree. That said, he is only a year into his 3 year deal, surely he won't be moved on.

He's a worker, nothing more. Handy player to have in your squad, but I don't see him as one of the best young front rowers in the game.

I think next season supporters will be pleasantly surprised with the workrates of Tasi and JWH. Jared ran some very impressive metres towards the end of the season and Tasi has a big engine already but was used in more of an impact role. Also, it sounds like Mose has been training the house down so it would be great to get more out of him. We are extremely lucky to have 4 props that make over 10m pretty much every run they make and 3 of them can hit so well that they're stopping opposition props at first impact. This makes a massive difference in metres gained between us and the opposition. And at the end of the season we started to see our forwards winning the metres gained stat because they were finally complemented by three running backrowers.
I agree with Headless regarding Tolman. He is a very hard worker but he's also quite weak for a prop. Gets dominated on the ground and at first impact. Our forward pack operates best when Friend has his backrowers (Nuuausala is the best at this) wedge behind the markers after a big run from one of the big props. There's invariably either a spread or Friend will go himself after that. Tolman reminds me of Arona without the ball skills but with a bigger motor. Just would not work for our pack, provided we have a full backrow (i.e. no Anasta).

You kidding, lets just keep the blokes we have got and show some faith, Tolman will end up back in NewcastleOriginally posted by roz View PostApparently tolman is being shopped around as hasler looks to make room for foran and possibly stewarts.
