Each to their own though I guess.
Selfish to not be proud of him? No

Selfish that I would prefer he was fit for the roosters instead of playing Origin? Probably

Selfish of him to play Origin when he was obviously busted? Certainly

Boyd Cordner has been injury plagued throughout his career. If managed properly his Rep Duty experience is an ace up our sleeves come finals time. In 2015, origin didnt derail our campaign. In 2014 it didnt and Origin didnt hurt us in 2013.

For the record off the top of my head since his 2 ACLs boyd has had one or two sydesmosis injuries, a pec tear, a shoulder complaint through 2014, all these were not caused by Origin. Origin has directly given him one sydesmosis injury (2016) plus the Calf strain. The knee problem is an ongoing condition probably from his prior knee injuries and if I remember he was having some problems with it before Origin.

injuries can happen anywhere any time including the training paddock. Players aspire for higher honours and always will. I just wished Robbo restes Pearce and JWH for that Bronocs game lol. That Cordner didnt reinjure his calf probably proves he felt was right to go for that origin just like Pearce felt he was good to go in that P/F in 2015.

      Im with Yak on this.

Don't forget the foot injury last year, after scoring that try assisted by Maloney

His actions in putting Origin before Club whilst clearly injured is a selfish act, irrespective of his desire to captain his state!
He may be a great guy and a selfless individual but this decision creates an argument in my opinion..

I mentioned ankle (syndesmosis) in origin last year you are right it wasnt that but a foot injury. Still really only 2 directly caused by origin as his current knee one is wear n tear from the rigours of all footy.

I figured the medical staff would've ruled him out if he was clearly injured?

I'd write this off as bad luck and hope he's fully recovered for the more important games.

He was pretty clearly not good.

SOO is only there for Queenslanders.

But I tell you what. If NSW had dominated for over a decade like Qld have there would be 10,000 turning up in Brisbane.

You will find that most on here had the same view about Origin the whole time. Not just since Qld started winning all the time. I know I have.

                          It's a necessary evil.

Freddie's record for backing up wasn't as bad as people make out.

                              1996 - Backed up after all 3
1997 - Was out injured and didn't play Origin
1998 - Played after the 2nd game but missed the games after 1st and 3rd Origin
1999 - Played after the 1st game, missed the game after the next Origin and was out injured for the 3rd origin game
2000 - Played the game after all 3 origins
2001 - Played the game after all 3 origins
2004 - Played the game after both Origins he played in.

So all up he played 16 origin game in his time with us and was available for the Roosters following game 13 of those times.

I remember at the members meet n greet / autograph session with the team last year , round this time, Corner showed up wearing this ugly looking knee brace over the top of his trackies. He hadn't injured the night before, but it had flared up due to the game. Apparently, he has to wear it after all games and training and it's a chronic condition, which is a really worry for me. He's likely to have condition for the remainder of his playing days.

I hear Tedesco does a lot of solo rehab training due to his chronic knees and ankles conditions.

AND THEN, i remember that Steve Georgalis did not have ACLs (either that or they were stuffed). But I do know that he played and trained with that problem his entire playing career. Friggin amazing.
