Very disappointed that Cords is out again.

And the fact that we have been misled also annoys the hell out of me.

Robbo said that he was not injured and that he just needs some rest because he has been recovery play all season with no real training.

Then Cords comes out yesterday and said that his knee was injured in Origin.

We all know what has really happened. He should not have played that Origin game and we are now paying the price. As many predicted even before the game.

We could have really done with him against Manly.

This enforced rest could be a blessing in disguise if he does indeed return to the field at 100% before the finals.
    Half glass full ...

      Fair enough.

I have a terrible feeling he won't be 100% anyway.

Careful, we're supposed to be immensely proud that he's the Blues captain and not give a shit what toll it takes on the Roosters.

So over the last two years we have:

Game I 2016: foot injury, out for about 6 weeks
Game II 2017: calf injury, out for 2 weeks and came back underdone
Game III 2017: knee injury, perhaps due to being underdone, and out for a month or more.

Boyd Cordner should finish his career as a 300 gamer for the Roosters. But because of State of Origin he'll struggle to crawl his way to 250 games.

          No different to Fittler.

He was destroyed by Origin just about every year.

I'm in the camp of those who detest the shyte of origin. Roosters are all I care about.
Cordner in danger of turning into a professional shyte of origin player.

It's obviously worse than first thought.

IMO it's probably a bee's dick away from being a season ending injury

I am friends with the physio for the blues and he told me he had a niggling knee injury after the game which would keep him out for about 2 to 3 weeks. They believe its chronic.

Fittler fronted up pretty much every week though, busted or not.

Some players just can't take the extra origin workload, Gallen, smith, Freddy, Cronk, slater, petero are all examples of playing 300 nrl matches and origin yearly. Even Thurston has played 300 nrl games.

boyd struggled to keep injury free before his origin career, nothing to do with origin.

Are you not immensely proud that he is captain of the Blues? I sure as shit am. That's an enormous achievement for someone so young.

His is knee was wrecked well before origin. Chronic knee injuries do not go away in season. They are managed. And that is exactly what the club is doing. I don't know the exact nature of the injury but if it's a tendinopathy like SBW's was then the increased workload will increase inflammation and pain in the area, but sometimes it can just be a one off incident of a bit more force going through it than normal that creates a tear and damages the tendon more. Tendons take at least 200 days to repair fully so you basically have to deal with it through the whole season. Right now the club is making sure that his knee is right to go for the finals. They would have been required to reduce his training load (rehab work mid week with the club) so it hasn't been gaining strength for some time. They're using this time wisely to make sure it will stand up to the demands of finals footy. Let's just be thankful that in the meantime we have such a capable replacement in Ryan Matterson. He'd be a starting player for any other NRL side just about.

That's true. But our semis campaigns all through the 90's were destroyed by Freddy being on one leg.

I'm not in the least proud of that.

I would much prefer he was a premiership-winning captain at that young age.

You don't feel that's a bit selfish? As much as I'm sure he loves this club Boyd has career goals that extend beyond the Roosters. And that's a credit to the Roosters. It says a lot about our club to have him attain that position. If you want the best players then you have to come to terms with the side effects.

Each to their own though I guess.
