  • Batsey's Thread.

Rather than start countless threads, I will just keep adding to this one. There will be loads of Roosters related discussion so I'd like it to stay in this section. The Rugby League Discussion section is where threads go to die!

    First question.

Who would be better value and why?

Koloamatangi at $1 mill a season or Haas at $1.4 mill a season.

    Things to consider are.

You will have $300k more to spend elsewhere if you sign Keaon. Haas could potentially be high maintenance with clauses in his contract that would allow him to leave early.

I'd go with Keaon who I think hasn't quite reached his ceiling just yet and performed last season in a team that was going backwards. He also doesn't appear to have aspirations to play RU or sign with the PNG Chiefs.

Hass. Hands down. I wouldn't swap Lindsey for Koloamatangi.

Haas was a passenger in last years finals series. It was all Walsh!

The Broncos fitness and mental strength that Maguire instilled in them was also the difference! They came from behind against the The Panthers and Raiders because they were the fitter team. They also had momentum when it counted against the Storm in the GF because again they were the fitter team.

        2 Things

        1. Haas is overrated imo.

        2. We haven't reached the level of fitness that is required in the 6 again era once since it was introduced. We've become farking soft because Robbo has ticked all his boxes and is too comfortable imo.

          A couple of things.

1st thing, don’t worry about having a Batesy thread there should be a Batesy section
& 2nd thing is it Batesy or is it now Batsey?

Leaning Haas at $1.4m for value.

Keaon at $1m is a ripper, but elite edges are easier to cover than what Haas gives you through the middle — metres, fast PTBs, defence, and he lifts the whole pack every week. That’s the kind of impact you don’t replace by spreading the extra $300k around on “decent” forwards.

Clauses are a fair worry, but if you’re in a premiership window you pay for the bloke who actually bends games. If you want stability + cap flexibility, then yeah, Keaon makes sense.

This is good. We can finally get to learn maybe a little bit about this guy, and hear some of his thoughts. Its what this forum has been lacking. I'm in, and hope it has the full support of the bored.

A nice play on words and you'll fool some, but Bates is alright.

Really? I’d personally drive Lindsay to another club
at best atm he is playing like a $500k prop
keon can play middle and edge and an elite prop in Today’s game capable of playing big minutes, huge work rate and has shown can easily get over 20 hit ups and 200-250mrr per game
and in today’s game pace and footwork for middles is a big plus
                        I’d easily let Collins go

I can't remember the last time Collins set the world on fire wearing Red, White and Blue.

Thanks Robbo. It's only taken 6 weeks to get back to me.
