Were you just as skeptical about Cronk? Hunt is just as good. Don't be influenced by his his form at the Dragons. They are rabble! He will tear NSW apart in the upcoming SOO series. Hunt is the perfect short term solution for us.

Hunt is a current state and national representative. He can play in the halves or hooker, He is also a great bench utility/impact player. There's a shortage of quality halves and that's why they command so much.

Hunt is 33. Cronk joined the Roosters when he was 34. I don't think his age is an issue.

But Cronk knew how to win games and steer a team to a premiership. His signing was always going to bring sucess. Hunt can't get his team into the finals. In the salary cap era his $1m price tag isn't warranted. I would much prefer someone like Townsend or Reynolds (hate to say it) over Hunt.

Correct, largely.

Manu is Keary's longer term replacement, although it is possible down the line that Robbo will revert to another option if it doesnt seem to be working out. I really think we need Manu to properly develop his kicking game to top knotch level though.

I am and always well be a massive Keary fan. An incredible player, central to our recent premierships. His own man with firm principles...the way he told off Rusty Crowe and stood up for his old toothless teammates when they wouldnt say a thing speaks volumes of the man.

However, if we are to face reality he has a very limited life span in the NRL from now on due to concussion issues. I think he'll retire at the end of 2024, but of course there is always the chance that could eventuate earlier if he cops a couple of nasty ones.

So, if/when it happens....you've got Manu, Watson, Hutch or go on the open market for someone in the No.6 jersey. I think Manu has the makings of a good 6, I think Watson is much better suited to bench utility, and I think Hutch should bulk up and aim to become a decent second rower elsewhere. As far as the open market goes, nothing gets me particularly excited aside from these who we are extremely unlikely to get (Hynes, Burton, Munster).

I do wonder....at a stretch....could Radley have a crack at the no.6? I think he has some of the chops there to eventually give it a shake, but certainly not the mentality/temprament. .

Hunt isn't the missing piece we need. Like Maloney or Cronk were. The issue we have is that our attack is full of individual superstars who are still trying to gel as a team. Once they do we will become a superstar team

Cronk was brilliant! He was also fortunate to play for the Storm and the Roosters. 2 powerhouse we’ll run clubs that play for premierships. I honestly don’t think Cronk would’ve made much difference to the Dragons. That club is a basket case! They need an overhaul starting at the top.

It’s difficult for players around a timid halfback who doesn’t take control and can’t demand their attention. Players need frame work and structure so they can perform at their best. They practice within a playing system which relies heavily on the halfback to execute.

Sam has potential but he may need years to develop that aspect of his game.

My distance running regime has given me the fitness. However, losing 10kg over the past 6 months leaves me a little bit lean. That said, the Inflictor texted me to say he's got my back so I'm all sweet.

No, because 1. Cronk and Hunt are not to be compared, Cronk is arguably a top 3 halfback of all time, who was coming off a grand final and a premiership. Hunt is an overpaid halfback who's only claim to fame is that he performs well at Origin every so often and almost won the most undeserving Dally M, by being the best player on a pretty crap team. 2. Walker and Manu are the halves of the future. 3. Mitchell Pearce had his chance at the Roosters and was already on the downwards as a player. 4. I can name at least 4 halfbacks with absolute certainty are better than Hunt atm, and at least another 2 that IMO are better. He is exceptionally overrated, on the wrong side of his playing career in his age, outside of a single season with the Broncos has had limited to no success at club level and will cost close to or over a million meaning we would have to release a younger, stronger player

How are Cronk and Hunt comparable excatly? How many times has Hunt started at #7 for Qld or Aust? Cronk owned those positions. How many GFs has Hunt won? Cronk was a champion before he came to the Roosters and the best #7 in the game at the time . IMO Hunt isn't in the top 5 halfbacks atm, and has no runs on the board (besides a couple of moments of magic in a couple of QLD games).
