I don't think Ben Hunt would be the right signning. He isn't in the same calibre as Cronk. Hunt hasn't tasted club success. He might be the best player in his club, but is yet to lead St Merge deep into a finals series.

My Mrs is a Dragons supporter so I've seen a lot of Ben Hunt playing, he is a great player but I've noticed that he tends to not only go missing in big games but will cost his team the game. I guess the most famous and known example of this is the 2015 grand final where he knocked it on allowing the Cows to kick the winner but another one that comes to mind is in 2018 when he was expected to lead the team around the field in an important finals match for St George only to go into the last minute where he threw a forward pass allowing Souths to get the ball and Reynolds to kick the winning field goal with 30 seconds to go.

When we do go to market to replace Keary I'd rather someone who is cool under pressure and might not be a big superstar as opposed to signing Hunt and be chomping the nails in each big game.

Agree with this. We have enough match-winners (Teddy, Manu, Walker & Sualli). What we need is a steady head (like Cronk was) to unlock these guns.

Signing Ben Hunt would be like winning footy lotto. It also takes the pressure off young Walker and gives him time to develop without feeling pressured.

Hunt is a very good player, but he’s just turned 33 and is under contract until the end of 2025. Assuming he saw his contact out, he’d be 36……..a bit too old I think for a 2 year stint at the Chooks.

Hunt becomes a free agent if Griffin get's the axe. Some say it's the only thing keeping him employed as the head coach atm.

I’m pretty sure Hunts on $1M at the dragons. He’s not worth that nor would we pay that. Based on Wighton’s contract and reasoning we should be able to pick him up for $650K. Then I might be persuaded.

Hi NR, Cronk. Thurston, Cleary would look average in that Dragons team. Look at the the way Api Koroisau is playing for the Tigers. Ditto Kikau for the Bulldogs before has was injured. It all depends on how the team is going. Hunt was outstanding for QLD last series. One of the best!

Hunts strengths are quite similar to Cronk. This suits the Robbo Roosters playing system.

Didn't realise he was that old. Hes a gun player. Would kill it in a decent team.

Not big on picking one or two incidents to label a players worth. What happened in the other 79 mins of those games? He was probably a major reason his team were even in that position.

Cleary is the best player in the game and the most valuable with his boot.
Hynes rise to becoming a star half underlines the genius of Bellamy in turning fullbacks into great running halves along with the likes of Hughes and Munster

The fact that he’s been a good consistent footballer for more than one year and has had the experience of two premierships, origins and Kangaroo games.
