  • Hypothetical - Number 7

    Nicho Hynes or Nathan Cleary.

who would you take and why.

noting the decision would be based on Sam Walker moving to #6 and playing an instinctive, roaming role.

Cleary. He’s a better goal kicker and a better all round player. Hynes is very good but stands out more in that side cause nobody else does anything.

      Tricky one.

I'd say Hynes. He's a freak and arguably the games best 7. He hasn't proven himself in a big game yet. He struggled against Souffs in last years finals week 2 game. I'd say he'll play SOO this year.
Cleary and Keary would be a nice pairing.

What parts of Cleary's game are better than Hynes?

Cleary by the length of the straight is the best halfback in the NRL today. I haven’t seen a half play as consistently outstanding and be as complete as Cleary for some time. I think he’s up there with the likes of Hastings, Stirling, Mortimer, Alexander, Stuart, Johns, Langer, Jones, Cronk and Thurston and the scary thing is he’s still only 25.

No offence but this is just a circle jerk thread. They are both locked up long-term. This thread has nothing to do with Easts. Walker for the win.

Walker is also locked up until the end of 2025, but that doesn’t means jack shit these days given how easy it is for either party to walk away from a contract if they really want to.

Hynes is a better all round player - like Munster can spark something from nothing but Cleary kicking makes them even!

only thing I can say is Cleary and Hynes have to partner in Origen at 6 and 7. For the test side would be Munster and Cleary with Hynes 14 but Hynes pressuring keary for sure

Hynes is unproven in big games

Cleary has been the dominant proven half for a few years now and is still only young

For me it's Cleary every day of the week and it's not even close.
