Suaalii is in a different situation to those names mentioned. With the exception of Benji, none of those players had the capacity to earn anywhere near what Suaalii can earn as a 20yo. And most of them had to remain away from league to continue earning decent money. Suaalii will be capable of earning decent money as an NRL fullback in a few years' time.
True, however if JS prefers and enjoy League more than Union $$$ will flow if he stays loyal to the Roosters. Uncle Nick has proven that and loyalty is lifelong at our club post League - Aubbo, Jake, Mini etc...

Really can't see Union offering a massive booty for a short-term stint of a few years to then lose him back to NRL.

He's in the box seat here, we are desperate , they are desperate for his services, at least we are in with a chance.

Is there a reason why JS has this buffer? Once upon a time he was 17 and it made sense. Now? I love the guy and wanna sign him forever but it sounds like his manager's gonna be testing the water all season potentially.

Guessing JS's been more mature about it and we think he has more potential? Whereas we've seen 'Trell's potential and it doesn't seem to involve 20km runs around Bangkok every night to lose a few kegs & prep himself to zip around every single play like Teddy / Edwards / Ponga / Kennedy...etc. It just involves him getting paid more and having the status gained by the title of 'fullback'.
Fatrell gets paid more to cover the ever rising costs of KFC.
Those family buckets he snorts aren’t cheap!

Having said that we have no idea what he wants to achieve personally and that will play a part in his decision for example he might want to captain Samoa in the next world cup, win a premiership ring maybe play for the Blues but if he remains in league he has strong ties with the chooks and that will be very important in any decision he makes also we are a powerful club and have a real chance of winning a couple of premierships i
Interesting the whole ‘he needs to look after his future and his family’ comments. I look after my future and family when I work and I’m on about 20% of his income.

100%. We all love him but not one single player is bigger than the club.

You can’t possibly look after your future and family with less than a mill a year. He doesn’t even have a family. The guy is 19. And his parents have managed to bring him and his siblings up and put them through school without a mill a year.

One more HIA and he'll retire.

It's extraordinarily optimistic to imagine that he'll get through 2023 without one, sadly. Let alone 2024 as well.

Kez is also a smart and grounded guy who will put his health and family first.

Btw Cords didn't play 200 FG games either...

                    Indeed.

Suaalii could spend his entire career at the Roosters, earning probably in the region of 15m salary. On top of that he'd also have access to the best financial minds in the country at the Roosters. And a job for life upon retirement.

I'd say that might be enough to look after his family.

I am sure if he suffered a career ending injury this year that Uncle Nick will cough up all of that $15m.

It is really nobody's business whether he wants to look after his parents, extended family, his grandparents' village, or just live it up in $20m beachfront house and drive around in a Bugatti.

And the Wallabies or some other NRL club would cough up the money? I'm not sure "hey Joseph, you might suffer a career ending injury this year so go sign with the Wallabies asap" is sound advice.

Uncle Nick is the most honourable owner/chairman left in the game. So he is actually the most likely to take care of a loyal player long before anyone else at another club. The proof is in the pudding there. And that doesn't mean free money. That's not Nick's style. It means a position at the club or a pathway to success elsewhere.

I like him, but unless he signs a decent extension with us, I’m not getting to attached to him.

JS is like having a smoking hot girlfriend that you know you probably can't keep forever. Enjoy him while we have him I say.

Can't keep them all but it gets disheartening losing the likes of RTS and Latrell when they are guns. Hope we can hang onto him for awhile.

Don't know what you do for a living champ, but I'd bet that you don't get off the bus walk into work and then be smashed by a 18 stone forward while you're on your way to the coffee machine, they are doing a lot of research on the long term effects these things are having on guys like our own Boyd Cordner and others who have played i reckon personally that they deserve every dollar they get and how he chooses to look after himself and his family or spend it is his business and nobody else's exactly the same as the way you chose to look after your finances bud.
