And I was somebody that was saying the complete opposite at the start of the year.

This is an opportunity for Nick and the front office to change the culture of the club. We shouldn't be about big name signings, rather we should stick to the youth we already have at the club and JWH is the most important young guy we have right now.

      Give him whatever it takes.

Agree... money can't be invested else where it is more valuable.

something doesn't feel right here, we have cleaned a lot of cap space out recently Carney/Myles/Ryles/Anasta and likely Mini/Leilua and even maybe JWH, I get the feeling Uncle Nick has something lined up that no one was expecting.

I wonder if its going to be something like a current All Black outside back or maybe even Tomkins from the UK.
You could be onto something there fletch! I would rather see Tomkins than SBWalkout anyway. Weve got most other spots covered, except a fullback!

I we get Sam Tomkins it will be some coup..

It was only last November that he signed a contract extension with Wigan, tying him to the club until 2016..

And making him (according to the pommy media) the highest paid player in the world..

Sam Tomkins gets huge new Wigan deal..

                    Published: 07 Nov 2011

WIGAN have made Sam Tomkins the highest-paid player in rugby league.
The talented full-back, 22, has penned a contract extension with the club until 2016.

And Tomkins — one of the hottest prospects in both rugby codes — will not be allowed to speak to another club for the next three years.

He was linked with lucrative moves to union and Australia's NRL but he has chosen to stay at the DW Stadium.

Tomkins said: "I made it clear I want to play for Wigan and no-one else.

"Playing for Wigan means everything to me having come through the academy and reserve grades.

"Being a part of the Grand Final success last year and Challenge Cup victory this season are the highlights of my career so far.

"I am extremely excited with what the future holds under new head coach Shaun Wane and am looking forward to what the next five years will bring both for me as a player and for Wigan."

On the finances of the deal, Wigan Owner and Chairman Ian Lenagan said: "It shows the strength of the sport and Wigan that we are able to invest in such an exceptional player within the salary cap.

"I am fully aware of rugby union's interest in Sam, however it gives me great pride that we are able to retain and reward one of the sport's brightest talents.

"I am also confident that for the right person we are able to offer a more attractive package than any other club in either code."

Forwards Sam Burgess and Gareth Ellis have both proved big hits in the NRL after leaving Super League.

Fellow England ace Tomkins would have been one of the star attractions for any club that managed to lure him away.

He has already given the Australians a glimpse of his ability as he impressed for England at Wembley on Saturday.

Despite losing 20-36, Tomkins was a real stand-out player with a hand in two of England's tries.

Meanwhile, Tomkins' brother Joel has sealed a £250,000 cross-code switch to Saracens.

The move will see a partnership form between Sarries and Wigan with a joint-code match on the cards.

It will also help coaches, staff and backroom teams develop new ideas as they work together.

The Bennet thing was shocking. That so-called man of character. He put us back 5 seasons by shafting us.

Im not saying that we will get him. I am saying that there are more important positions we need to fill with a top class player and they are far more important that the one the SBWalkout show would cover.

In one fell swoop, playing SBW in the centres would put paid to 'the spine' orthodoxy.

That fcuker will create points off offloads from anywhere on the park.

So it was Wayne Bennett's fault that Myles defecated in a corrider, Jake got caught drink driving, Freddy got drunk & lost in a hotel and Anthony Watts allegedly bashed his girlfriend?
