  • Where's old mate Slime Ankle these days?

Once touted as a rising star, the titan amongst men know only as Slime-Ankle scored a $1m per season contract with rugby in Japan after playing just a few NRL games for the Warriors.

Following a successful stint in Japan, Slime-Ankle returned to Australia to replace the one and only RTS. Unfortunately due to some bad luck he only played NSW cup for us, where he was applauded as the NSW Cup FB of the year.

When his contract expired, the great Slime-Ankle rode off into the sunset, never to be seen again.

Where's he at? I heard he's only 30, has been training hard and is hoping to make a comeback in 2023.

Also, did he end up getting those nicotine patches off his knees, or was that just an inside joke that I didn't quite understand?

Has he been smashing the durries, or did putting nicotine patches on his knees do the trick?

No he did not. You may be thinking of Sean Wainui. Highly unlikely though you even know who he is.
"Do you expect me to talk"? "No, Mr. Bond, I expect you to die".

Slime-Ankle is the incumbent captain of the Afghani Rugby team. I'm not kidding.

In other news, he is/was not NRL first grade standard.

                        Omar Slaimankhel

I think it's a great story when you know his background - born in Pakistan to Afghani Parents who were refugees- Soviet Union invasion of Afghanistan period - They moved to New Zealand when he was aged 2.

He did what no one on here has done and plenty of others don't manage either - Play NRL

Not sure why the post heading is dishing his name though

                          Omar Slaimankhel

Pakistan-born Slaimankhel came through the Warriors system and proved a talented junior, playing at fullback as the Warriors claimed the 2011 NRL Under-20s title and making the NYC Team of the Year.

For various reasons players don't always progress to become regular NRL players- also depends on the position they play and the opportunities available and not just at their current club but across the NRL

Interesting to see the NYC 2016 Grandfinal sides - Roosters vs Penrith in how many went onto to become permanent/regular NRL players - Roosters 5 - Penrith 4
