  • I know it is flawed R6, but it is still measured the same way for each player. I'm not defending Momo, I'd personally like to see Smith get an extended opportunity at left centre. I'm merely pointing out that EVERYONE misses tackles, but some misses lead to tries, and some misses get covered up by the next bloke in the line. Some times it's just plain dumb luck that the miss doesn't cost the team.

Agreed, stats should always be balanced out by actually watching the game.

I am defending Momo, I think the criticism has been over the top but like you I don't think there is much between Smith and Momorovski, Smith probably had a higher ceiling but who knows how true that is now after how many injuries he's had.

      • We replaced Josh Morris with Momo who is on reportedly twice the salary for a 3 year deal, I don't care what stats you put up for him I go off the eye test and he isn't as good on kick chase, one on one defence or putting toups away in attack.
I wasn't expecting him to be a damaging ball runner but he was supposed to be a rock in defence and he's been disappointing in that regard.
However i do think he is the best option we have in that position and hoping he will cone good soon.

What was your take on him after that Broncos game? I have never seen a player get so single handedly embarrassed like that against an opponent. The fact he couldn't adjust & let it go on all game is a worry. That unknown Bulldogs centre a week later kept Staggs in check pretty well. Give South's Momo & Smith in return for Latrell.

Did it cost them the game vs Brisbane -No - And did the miss tackle cost them the game vs Canberra -No as well.

I rest my case for the Defence of Paul Momirovski

            • If your contention is that his one missed tackle didn't cost the game, what positives does he bring to the team that helps the team win a game? Is it his passing game, attack, perhaps his kicking game....I can't see one positive that he brings to the team. At least other players mistakes are offset by their other positive contributions to the team.

His involvement in Teddy's try versus Sharks was pretty classy.

                • Sure, he has the very occassional positive but they are so scarce I would prefer a higher positive achieving centre. .

He has a 74.4% win ratio when he plays.

Well if you are only looking for the negatives you will never see the positives.

I dont think you have a slam dunk case .

I'd wish momo could cross the try line as good as he crosses the sideline

                      • I think Momorovski like Nat Butcher is in the top 17 unless injured. Robbo loves them both.
I would like to see Manu & Suaalii & Smith & Toups.

Well as John Pearce used to say somewhat I will have the last word though

Momiroivski isn't even in the top 50 for errors

There’s a few other games where he makes up for that.

That's our top three-quarter line up for sure. Tall timber.
