Gotta cut poor old Collins some slack as it’s only early days in his comeback from serious injury but unless his brain was injured along with his knee, there’s no excuse for that sort of stupidity. I though he was extremely ordinary all night. I know he will improve and have us talking him up again soon however.

So for round 1 we could be missing Keary, Collins, Radley, Egan & Nat Butcher, Suaalii, Smith. Plus Verills is already suspended.
Good start to the year.

if they weren't televised or filmed would they get suspended?
Suspended players (e.g. Verrills) can play so why can you get suspended for playing in a game that doesn't count as a game?
Either way, it was a stupid tackle by Collins. Two guys were wrapped up, he was pretty far away, he had LOTS of time and still decided to do what's clearly an illegal tackle. Sigh.

No way Collins should be suspended for that tackle...should be fined...he must have some discount available.
I see tackles like that in every game. Noting wrong with the tackle, other than it was a little too hard.
You'd have to wonder when Radley is going to realise that the head is not the chest.

The other issue though is when the third defender pins the ball carrier legs together and the two defenders pull the ball carrier backwards over the third defender which happened somewhat in this tackle - I think Manu and Whyte were the other two defenders.
You can see serious leg/knee injuries coming from this type of action by the two defenders in such tackles although it's usually only the third defender that is ever charged in these 3 defender tackles.

Ball carrier having their legs pinned together by the third defender and the other two defenders pulling/pushing the ball carrier backwards over the third defender can result in serious leg and knee injuries. Only ever see a third defender ever charged in such 3 defender tackles though.
You see this somewhat in the Collins tackle below the actions of the other two defenders.
When Collins comes in as the third defender the other two defenders could pull the ball carrier down to land face first but of course with this slow the play the ball down mentality the other two defenders pull or push the ball carrier backwards over the third defender to land on their back.
Why is it that only the third defenders actions come under scrutiny and not the other 2 defenders actions- Collins tackle would not have caused any injury the actions of the other 2 defenders as I described could have though.

If the third defender pins the ball carriers legs together the actions of the other two defenders as i said above could result in serious leg and knee injuries - you see these tackles quite often and i only recall the third defender coming under scrutiny from the judiciary.
NRL should ban the 3rd defender in

Why I like watching the pathway junior games - non of this wrestling and third defender in rubbish but as we all know if they advance through the grades to higher and higher levels this is the way they will be trained to defend

I dunno, it’s not like we need trial games, in the 70s when we had three operating levels (1st, reserves, U23s) it did guys looking to step up from the bush a measuring stick
Now, I’m fairly certain coaches could sort out whose doing what where without the risk of season ending injury or brainsnaps leading to a suspension…but that’s just me
