Naufahu whyte has no urgency in defence, hmm. He can attack but it’s the defence that makes a true rugby league forward.. hope can work on this and develop.

Tonight proved one thing to me again.
We are one or two injured props away from big trouble.
Very little coming through the ranks in that department. Most that played in the middle during these trials look like bums who are blowing after one tackle/hit up.Exonerate the West Memphis Three - www.wm3.org

2020 will obviously be a rebuilding year.
Although, missing tonite were:
1. Keary.....( training as we do it should be banned).
2. SST
3. JWH
4. Teddy
5. N Butcher
6. E Butcher
7. Billy Smith
8. Suaalii
9. Crichton
10. Watson
11. Lussick (only age 21 and 94.9% tackle efficiency)
12. did Atoni play?
Atrocious conditions for players to try to learn in.
So, after the game Trent seemed to say that he was trialling young players and regular first graders in different positions, and looking at different combinations.
In Trent We Trust.
Good, now no more mucking around...we need to win round one at the SCG.
All we seem to do in games is defend,
no matter what the team makeup is.
Dumb passes, high tackles/illegal tackles, dropped ball, off side etc.
Seemingly biased refereeing is hard enough to overcome without adding to it.
Another team lost its trial on the night, so we weren't alone in the "losers" corner.Last edited by bondi.boy; 02-26-2022, 05:29 AM.

I thought Whyte went OK, same as a few of the other young guys in our team.
The guys were in position to defend , and make tackles, that is what counts.
You can't expect them to make dominant tackles, when they are still learning the ropes.
Remember, they have not played a lot of FG, and were up against a full strength Tigers outfit, who were playing it fast.
That is pretty daunting for a new player into first grade- the pace of the game - 1st grade vs Bears.
The fact that they had to defend repeat sets of 6 on their own line, and managed to hold the line intact , says a lot..
They will improve as the season progresses, and will learn a lot on the run.

2nd half was scrappy & I’m happy for the Tigers. I thought Jacko & Brooks we’re good & the bloke who came on to play hooker for them looks good reminded me of the cheese.
I think the Roosters top 17 would have won but I thought both teams played with heaps of energy.
Couple of the Roosters real big forwards we’re caught out in defence a few times.
