Last year, Sam scored 5 tries in 12 games, avg of a try every 2.4 games, Which is on par with a similar player in the same position and fellow international Jason Nightingale (who played 25 games last season scored 10 tries, avg 1 try per 2.5 games)

The Roosters get alot of value out of Sam and he is one that will always put his hand up to do it.

So we can say, "take away the hitups and what do we have?", but thats like saying take away SKD's tries and what do we have. PLayers are there for a purpose, it's team balance.

Sammy debut 133 games 42 tries 3.1 games per try
Nightingale 109 games 49 tries 2.2 games Per try a massive difference
Putting stats aside Nightingale puts pressure through his overall game, take away his tries awesome defense take that away awesome attack take that away he creates second phase play.
Basically more than one string on his bow is my point and if we are to move forward we need more rather then one dimension

I remember a comeback, more than 10 yrs ago, at the SFS, 10 to go, playing the faiders, down by 14 and we pulled a splice out of our arses that arvo.

That was great but last night I'm sure was something else altogether considering the occasion, the opposition and the time factor. Ive been getting compliments all day, not that I did much, but it still fells bloody great to love the Coq.

      GO EASTS.

Are u talking about that game where freddy put the bomb up and clinton dropped it cold LOL and we ate them lol

But why take away these things from these players??? That is what they offer, that is what they bring to their teams.

Like i said, if we take away SKD's tries, would we keep him in the team...... lets be honest, the answer is no... but the fact is, he is an attacking weapon and the focus of our try scoring on the left of attack. So it's either SKD scoring or sam, outside him scoring. if sams not scoring, then he gives value in other ways. Same goes with nightingale and prior for the dragons.

Maybe mate, I seem to remember Cliton Roidschkofske leaving the SFS often with skiddies after Freddo bombs and someone like The Crock absolutely arrowing in on the poor cnutt.

That day may have been one of those but before The Crocks time from memory.

Im sure it was a sat arvo and we were sitting in that eastern tier. I remember cos one of my best mates was moving up here and it was his last game at the SFS for a while. Maybe 99???

Great comeback, the 10k crowd just came alive, it felt like a full house. Man I got pissed that night back at the club.

I am just using that as an example if you break down a good player and look at all the layers you will find that he adds values in many different ways, thats why I am saying break his game down!!
I would keep SKD because all his trys are not handed to him on a plater he has the ability to find the line unassisted through his own individual brilliance, he has the ability to break the line which he does on a very regular basis, he has the size and height to create havoc which he does when he contests the high ball. He sets up other players!

anyhow mate just my opinon... all I am saying is that I am not satisfied with what i see and expect more

Thats fine, i believe Sam being on the team brings a balance and experience to the side that at this point in ti,e, the team needs.

And i remember that Raiders game too, Schifkofski dropped an ABSOLUTE SITTER !!!!!!!!!!!

This is Sam Perrett's try tally since becoming a regular.

                Played Tries

                2006 17 (8-0-9) 7
                2007 24 (10-1-13) 9
                2008 25 (14-0-11) 5
                2009 24 (5-0-19) 5
                2010 27 (17-0-10) 9
                2011 12 (5-0-7) 5

Not prolific in any regard. But I wouldn't not have him in the side.

Tagive to take Carney's spot, Carney to move in the centres.

I think this is what Smith is shooting for by about Round 5 (whether I agree with it or not):

                  1. Anthony Minichiello
                  2. Sam Perrett
                  3. TauTau Moga [may ease him in off the wing]
                  4. Shaun-Kenny Dowall
                  5. Justin Carney/Peni Tagive [subject to form]
                  6. Braith Anasta
                  7. Mitchell Pearce
                  8. Martin Kennedy
                  9. Jake Friend
                  10. Jared Warea Hargreaves
                  11. Boyd Cordner
                  12. Mitchell Aubusson
                  13. Frank Paul Nuuausala

                  14. Daniel Mortimer
                  15. Lama Tasi
                  16. Mose Masoe
                  17. BJ Leuilua / Aiden Guerra [subject to BJ making transition to forward utility]

Mob, I don't hate that side. If Anasta wasn't there, I'd marry it and have a whole lot of little poster created team lists and start a company distributing them. That I wouldn't let Neil Brooks run, because he's not the most honest man I've ever known of.

Tagive is the best winger we have, Smith just needs to give him a go. How we've longed for a big, tall, FAST winger and now we have him and we decide to play a couple of midgets.

I think the thing that shits me is that players like Perrett have been making the same dumb mistakes their whole career and yet they never get dropped, yet some of the young guys when they do eventually get a shot even if they play well Smithy will still drop them.

I don't want anyone in the team regardless of who they are or what they get paid to feel that their position is secure, I want them to earn their position and make the statement of "If you want my position then you will have to play out of your skin, as that's what I'm gonna do to keep it".

Wasn't it the game that Elsegood had a blinder after his Dad died. I think It was Elsegood who scored the winning try.

Perrett is still easily our best winger. He is just the type of player that will throw in a few handling errors he has always had them, it's frustrating for a senior player. At his best though he is a very good player, other players and teams rate him highly.

Had Toupo played against Souths his height would have been no advantage to us, not one of our fifth tackle bombs fell anywhere near a Rooster player.
