    No not this year.
When we had Cronk/Keary I was confident.
I put the value of the halves so high up on my priority to win the comp, I just didnt think the Roosters had that covered this year.
I never thought the Chooks could match the tops sides with the top halves this year.
Next year concerns me a bit too because again the Roosters will have the most inexperienced halves & probably the smallest halves. Doesn't mean they cant win the comp though, it just concerns me.

Keary/Walker could win a comp IMO. Keary oozes class in big games and Walker would have a two seasons’ worth of experience by the 2022 finals and you’d think he’d bulk up a bit which will help.

Halves won't win games if our forward pack can't control the ruck and get us the field position required to execute the game plan.
If anything I think Walker has more than matched it with the best considering the circumstances.
Imo I feel the roosters are starting to build with rads, gus and jwh in top form along with the emergence of E Butch we can match any team up front.
if that happens I think Walker can do some damage in the finals.
The main concern would be our outside back stocks
There is plenty of big game experience in the chooks and we won a grand final when almost all hope was lost

parra look shot and if can win the 3 games we're supposed to we should finish ahead of them. manly might be tougher but if we beat one of penrith or souths as well we'll get 4th spot for sure. we won't be in favourites in either but maybe we get a bit of luck

Manly absolutely smashed the sharks so they are breathing down or necks .One false move and we could be looking at 6th .This week is a game we aren't expected to win but we need to .

Does Ray still think Parra are much better than Manly?

                  How good is Turbo?
Hayne being a one man team for the last 10 rds in 2009 was pretty good but Tom has taken it to another level since he returned this year. I cant recall in the time Ive watched the game a player more dominant than him.

In their last 8 matches Manly have played 8 teams outside the top 6. In 7 of those 8 games they have conceded 18 points to the Knights, 18 to the Cowboys, 24 to the Titans, 30 to the Raiders, 18 to the Dragons, 24 to the Tigers and 22 to the Sharks. Now they face Group 1 company.

I think they will come fourth but they are a class below the top two. I put them even with Souffs but they are even more of a one-man team than Souffs are.

I want us to come fifth.

Would we be better of if we could come fourth . You get to play the next week if you loose . Fifth we loose we are out and based on this year when we play teams below us we don't seem to do to well.

Assuming the ladder finishes like this:
                          1/ Storm
                          2/ Panthers
                          3/ Souffs
                          4/ Roosters/Manly
                          5/ Roosters/Manly

Also assuming we make it to the prelim (touch wood).

Using the NRL site's predictor and assuming 1st and 2nd win in week 1.
Regardless of whether we finish 4th or 5th we play Manly in week 2 and Panthers in the prelim.
Only difference is who we play in week 1. We play Storm for a shot at a week off or play 8th (likely Titans or Raiders).
I see no advantage in coming 5th and playing every week. Come 4th and have a shot at a week off. You never know what the teams will look like with injuries and suspensions.
If we finish 6th then we are likely to play Souths in week 2 then Storm and prelim. Obviously Mickie's preference.

Thats what I was thinking but not the finishing 6th bit. But if we did finish 6th & we faced Souths & won then we faced Melbourne & won it would be the best ever result for the Chooks with 5 out.
4th or 5th doesnt really matter.

Fourth after the weekend, Parra season is over and we will have an easy win against a wounded Penrith.

From the outside I would rate the top 6 as follows

                                1- Storm
                                2- Riff
                                3- Vermin
                                4- Manly
                                5- Chooks
                                6- Parra

Difference between the Storm and the Riff at full strength and the rest is their defence and ball movement and they generally play 80 minutes.

If the other 4 teams can match them in the key areas - high set completions/ low errors ( low missed tackles/set restarts and penalties conceded) / good kicking game and defence that moves at speed and cuts down their time and space in attack and sustain this for the full game then they will be a chance. Whether teams 3 to 6 can do this time will tell

Need to make them (Storm and Riff and any other team) beat you and not beat yourself by putting in a poor performance

As Big Jack Gibson would say you don't like losing but if the team played to it's ability that is all you can ask - only was critical if a team lost because of errors , ill discipline and dumb play
