I’m just grateful we don’t have to breath the same air as Souths.

In other news for our reserves - in absence of being able to play NSW cup the NSW teams may set up practice games between and combining with other teams, or they may put players in the Qld Cup instead now. No word of who we might be aligned with - possibly Sunshine Coast? Think most Melbourne players go to Brisbane Tigers these days (Easts) - may be wrong
The Sunny coast Falcons are a Melbourne Storm feeder. The storm basically have a monopoly on the coast. Unfortunately there CEO is roosters premiership player Chris Flannery who played juniors at Kawana

Baker and Abbey if required will have to undergo a further 2 weeks of Quarantine in QLD it seems - miss 4 games - unless they can be granted an exemption which would be unlikely

NRL CEO Andrew Abdo confirmed on Monday that any player not originally part of a team's Apollo register would have to serve a 14-day quarantine period separate to their club's set-up.

if they fly straight to townsville does that mean the other teams will bag the best rooms in noosa?

Not happy the Roosters are going to the Sunshine Coast…They put all the crap teams in Suncorp and we don’t play any of them during that month. Not happy Jan!

Talk of two conferences will be on the agenda again one would feel (hope) - 8 Sydney Team Conference and the Dragons being 1/2 Illawarra in the non Sydney conference

Currently the comp is 25 weeks - 24 games with 1 bye where teams receive 2 points and 1 all teams bye for SOO

Under a two conference system the comps could look like this
                  • Pre-season comp - 2 groups of 4 teams in each conference - group winners play off in each conference- 4 week duration
                  • Comp - 21 rounds in each conference ( play teams 3 times )
                  • 2 Byes as per current format
                  • Finals in each conference with conference winners playing off or a cross over finals series.
Would only be relocating 4 teams if this was in place now - Warriors/Dragons/Knights and Raiders.

Approximately will cost up to 15 mill per month and it looks like they want to stage another magic round at Suncorp to offset somewhat these costs.

The NRL can't afford these costs season after season which will affect how much funding clubs will receive annually from the NRL so something will need to change and a 2 conference system is the solution.

                    Garbage idea.
Under your proposal the Roosters will never play Melbourne during the regular season. Why would the broadcasters ever sign off on a comp where the top teams never play each other? Those are the ones that rake in the most views and money.

I'm sure all these players will behave themselves whilst they are in the bubble, what could possibly go wrong with those ones all up on the Gold coast together

That's a lot of work you put down here and not sure who you're trying to convince. Not much has been said about it since it was brought up for discussion by the NRL probably due to other problems more important in the game plus more negative comments from fans. I'm sure that in the end the NRL will do its research to see if this is feasible and is accepted by the majority of clubs and fans and from what I have seen, there are many fans that just don't want to have a comp where all teams don't get a chance to play each other. The country's population isn't big enough like that in the US to work and personally I wouldn't, like a conference system.

You would have the Sydney teams playing each other at least twice which would generate the viewers and money you allude to -Queensland folk are only really interested basically in QLD teams.

The NRL are not flushed with money so only relocating 4 teams instead of 12 makes very good financial sense one has to say under my plan

It's like the new game - many coaches are stuck in the structure game plan of multiple hit ups then out the back with decoy runners and kick on the last - it doesn't cut the mustard anymore - same as a comp where teams don't play each other twice.- been a flawed comp for yonks

Under the conference system which ever way you have it - play only teams in your conference 3 times , play teams in your conference twice and teams in the other conference once - teams within the 2 conferences will ALL play the same teams - no debate about easy and hard draws etc

Finals series either a conference finals series with the 2 conference winners playing off superbowl style or a cross over finals series.

Hopefully the broadcasters will get behind a 2 conference system and make it a reality.

Need to offer something new - offering the same thing year after year after year is not going to attract new fans and sponsors - the NRL need to increase the fan and sponsorship base and a new product is what is required for this to happen.
