  • Scans are back for Keary and Lam.

Scans have revealed the Roosters’ worst fears, with star halfback Luke Keary suffering a torn ACL that will end his season.

Keary met with medical staff on Saturday morning where he received the devastating news.

Adding to the Roosters’ woes is the additional news that fellow playmaker Lachlan Lam will miss the next four to six weeks with an MCL knee injury.

The loss of Keary and Lam will force coach Trent Robinson into naming a brand new halves pairing for their Round 4 clash with the Warriors next Sunday.

Rookie half Sam Walker, back-up Drew Hutchinson or centre Joey Manu are all under consideration to steer the side.

The Roosters will also closely monitor prop Lindsay Collins, who failed to finish Friday night’s clash with South Sydney after suffering a head knock.

Collins was in good spirits on Saturday but the Roosters will be taking no risks with his health.

In another blow, young forward Daniel Suluka-Fifita faces a two-game suspension after being charged by the NRL match review committee.

Suluka-Fifita has been slapped with a grade one striking charge after punching Rabbitohs star Jai Arrow in the back of the head during Friday night’s match.

‘REALLY TOUGH’: ROBINSON REVEALS ROOSTERS PAIN

    By Matt Logue

Roosters coach Trent Robinson was shattered when asked about his side’s injury toll after their 26-16 loss to the Rabbitohs on Friday night.

“The way we played the game was really disappointing and then you load the (injuries) on top, you can imagine how it is going to be in the sheds,” Robinson said.

“Lindsay is pretty clear and he is OK (concussion), Lachy I think it is medial and Luke is ACL.”

Only round 3 - Warriors will be tough though as they ran down the Raiders - down 25-6 at Half time came back to win 34-31 down in Canberra.

It reminded me though that Keary came off late in the game vs Manly and had an ice pack on his knee and in the Tigers game he was stretching the same leg and commentators thought he had a cramp or maybe hammy problems.

There is a link between hamstring and acl injuries as hamstrings protect the ACL by reducing the strain on this ligament. Weak hamstrings provide less protection and possible increase the risk of injury to the ACL.

Keary had and has had Hamstring issues including in this pre-season as he missed the trial game.

Seems last night the knee just packed it in as there was no collision or anything else for the knee injury to occur as it did.

Like stretching a rubber band continuously - it will eventually break.

The Keary out for the season is devastating & I can only pray & Im not relgious that Sam Walker does a Leo Dynevor

Dynevor was a crafty half who had joined the Knights from the London Broncos one a one-year-deal.
His first and only season with the Club was the best year of his short NRL career.
When Andrew Johns went down with an ankle injury in a trial game at the start of 97, Dynevor stepped into the role with great success.
“Leo Dynevor who had signed that year, an unknown half-back from up North came down and he was just incredible for us,” Marc Glanville said.
“He had an unbelievable season. I guess without Leo, we don’t make the grand final.”

I think he played for Wests Magpies as well for a few seasons after that year with Newcastle then disappeared - When Wests and Balmain merged they didn't sign many of the Wests players as i think they came last the 2 seasons prior to their merging

He was only good at the Knights.
I dont want Walker to be a 1 year wonder even though if he was & we won the comp I would be happy.
I hope Sam & I think he will play many more seasons than Leo but I dont think he will take us to the Premiership this year.

The only good news is that he did it in round 3, so will be back for round 3 next year.

Horrible i jury for any professional athlete though hey! A year out of the game... you miss rep duties, people jump you in the pecking order foe such duties, you can't train properly, the game changes...etc.

Glad I've never done an ACL. While I wanna call them 'bad luck', I think questions need to be asked about our training. Why so many knee injuries?!? Not saying the training's at fault, but I hope we've got some scientists looking into why Smith, Verrills, Radley, Keary, Lam (and somebody else with an MCL last year... or was that Lam?) have all been injured.

For example, does coaching everybody to do a bit of a step do this? Or, are there issues with our weights program? Dunno but at very least I hope we're looking into the science behind this sorta thing.

I reckon it can only be good for his development.

That said, I am critical of how we gave Keary the #7 and talked up how that was a 'promotion'. I still don't think the HB is the 'senior/dominant half'. It's just a number. They're a team and they need to click above all!!!!

We're now in a position where two yet to be decided, reserve-grade halves will be doing it all. Does it really matter from here who wears #6 and who wears #7? IMO no. What matters is that they organise the ball properly.

Sigh... at least we have Verrills, Keighran, Lam, Hutcho and Walker and this all happened early on! If I'm honest, right now J-Moz, B-Moz and Teddy can score from anywhere on the field. We don't need superman in the halves. We need somebody who can bend the line (so we're not trapped in our 50 like last night) and somebody who can feel our outside backs when we're ~30-40m out. Coz last night we got pumped, but Hutch and farking Manu could create tries for B-Moz/Teddy. You don't have to be the best half in the game to set those guys up! Heck... so long as you have the right idea, you can probably shank the ball every time and they'll still pile on the points.

Thanks Salvo, very interesting. I guess he should have taken more time off to rest the hamstring. Easy to say in hindsight though I guess.

Can’t help but think that Lam is a little physically soft for this game. Constantly injured throughout his career. Doesn’t get tackled too often but seems to get injured very often.

So disappointed for Luke. We have had such terrible luck in the past 12-18 months; it has to level out eventually, surely.

Some people believe supporting the Roosters
is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed
with that attitude. I can assure you it is
much, much more important than that.

                        Tedesco was the same mate.

Sorry, but thats a meaningless analysis.

Lam’s defence before his injury was abominable. Thirteen has a point.

for me, at this stage, our halves will be lam and walker. hopefully lam gets over his injury and really hits his straps.
he was picked as our starting 5/8 with walker in the wings. with keary gone, the logic would go, his place is more secure
