  • Prophecy for this Friday night

I wrote following on a different forum:

Here is my word of prophecy for the upcoming Easts v Penrith semi:

It will be a 2-4 point margin, but the winner? I’m not certain.

But I will state the following with absolute certainty:
    1. The 6 agains will go to Penrith 9 – 2.
    2. Penalties will go to Penrith 5-3.
    3. Of the 9 six agains that Penrith receive, 4 of those will be on the 4th tackle. Another 3 will be on the 3rd tackle. There will also be 1 on the 5th tackle.
    4. Of the 2 six agains that Easts receive, 1 will be late in the first half when there’s only 30 seconds to go.
    5. The other one will be on our first tackle.

    You’ve heard it here first.

Happy to have egg on my face, but I look forward to re-visiting this post of mine after the game.

Oh, in case you’re wondering where I got this from, this has been the case for the last 4 games. But there were quite a few others like this earlier in the season as well.

Already blaming the refs 4 days prior to the game. Love to see it. But in all seriousness we need to hold possession if we want to come out on top of the pen counts and what not.

Thanks Nostradamus. You are a prophet but can't pick a winner? Bravo.

Yeah ok, it ain't the Roosters Way.

I've actually never whinged about refs/penalties in the past, but the 6 agains this year is so sneaky because it's not really recorded and put on record like penalty counts. Easier to manipulate a game this way than through normal penalty counts.

I really hope the ref (hopefully not Sutton or Cummins) gives us a fair shake - if they do, Easts by 6.

I just looked into my crystal ball and seen Bruce Pickett crying tears of joy because the roosters won but lost the penalty count....

The refs could not stop us in 2002, 2013, 2018 or 2019. If we are good enough they will not stop us in 2020 either.

                  Refereeing shennanigans aside...

                  We will win on Friday.

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind.

                  We'll get them by 6 - 10 points.

In 2014 we were Minor Prems and played Penriff in first week of semi ...... led by 6 with few minutes left ...they scored flukey try and from resumption set of 6 Soward kicks field goal.
Time to repay that favour ...with interest !

The last time we visited a red hot Panthers side out west and on a streak was back in 2003. We put 24 on them inside 30 minutes.

Let's hope we see the same again.

But a different GF result of course.

Not the comeback though - Chooks lead 26 - 0 at half-time in that one and the game changed when Stuart took Fittler off-(i think Chooks were leading 32-0 then) Penrith came storming back and Stuart had to put Fittler back on to steady the rather wobbly Chooks - ended up Winning 38-24 - Gave them confidence going forward especially as they had beat the Chooks by mounting a comeback 23-22 earlier in the season- Chooks should have finished MP that year but for a poor loss to the Warriors in the second last round- No rain on Friday i hope

The loser of this Friday's clash won't win the grand final is the only prophecy I'll make where as the winner will be short favourites to win the comp.

I'll add to your predictions Bruce, though my two aren't anywhere near as bold as yours:
                              1. penrith will receive their first set restart no later than their second set in possession.
                              2. penrith will receive their first penalty between the fifth and ninth minute for the Roosters being inside the 10.
                              3. Matt Cecchin will NOT be appointed the referee for the Roosters/penrith game.
Please note, I hope my predictions are wrong.
