One US media celebrity (male) is quoted as having said the other day about the dying in NY:
"They were on their last legs anyway".

You literally have to scroll through dozens of articles to find anything positive these days, but then I guess you would be the last person to be reading anything positive.
The segment was presented in a solemn and dignified manner.
It was Mr Lopez who was getting upset about the record number of deaths....and the "dumpster diving".
The facts about the lessening of admissions was also mentioned.

I watch the The Late show with Stephen Colbert & Jimmy Kimmel Live both New York based....and they spent mid Feb onwards smashing Trump and his administration for downplaying the threat of the virus in favour of talking up the stock market.

Anyhow your 100% correct- always question the media reports no matter what side of the fence they sit on. Sometimes you get the truth and sometimes you get total bullshit

I used to be a "glass half full" person ...but now I'm a "glass half empty" person...and with very good reason.
Woman at a Sydney hospital given an epidural of cleaning fluid/disinfectant in error, ruined her body and her life.
Women being mutilated by a doctor.
Elderly people being beaten up in nursing homes and seemingly starved in some hospitals.
Passengers trying to abandon the sinking cruise ship Costa Concordia after it tipped over on its side...crawling down the side of the hull pointing to the sky...in darkness...All shown on Youtube "cruises from hell".
Only in recent times passengers being airlifted by chopper off a sinking cruise ship.
    etc.
    There's a long list.

The only reason they went is because they had paid up front and were too tight to forego the cost of the trip , they made the choice to put their wallet before their health.
This virus has reiterated that health is the most important thing in life and those that played Russian roulette with their health by going on a cruise and sadly passing away paid the ultimate price.
I agree in the short term but, once we have a vaccine and everything eventually calms down, then cruising will be up and running again. I do hope that some positive and lasting changes are made to make it a safer experience. Regardless of the form of travel, those that clearly choose to ignore the Government's travel advice are silly at best and reckless at worst.

    So much food being prepared.
Swimming pools used by so many people.
    Everything from gastro to legionnaires
    disease he listed.
I have to disagree with BB and RWB on this one. I have been on a number of cruises, and it is a great way to travel and spend a holiday. There are cruises and there are cruises. I am not surprised that Princess is in the limelight at the moment. They have had some dramas in recent years with norovirus cases. A challenge for many cruise ships is to clean the ship from top to bottom in such a short space of time between passengers disembarking and the next lot embarking, often within a few hours of each other. Cunard, for example, has a very good track record. You have to be careful.

If you avoid using the public pool, buffet on a regular basis and other high risk, high concentration areas, the chances are you will be fine. It is common sense to some extent. Having said all of that, I probably won't be rushing back to a cruise any time soon! I am hoping that positive change comes out of all of this - regulations around cleaning practices, for example. It is very important that you have appropriate travel insurance.

I had another cry when it was known that his girls were safe in the hotel.
