But yeah... the guy's a self-centred butthole with attitude issues for spending time in the country seeing family, helping out on farms and fighting fires when he could be lying on Bondi Beach enjoying a $800k contract. Totally not the kinda character we want :POriginally posted by The Brain View PostLots of pics Of ..latrell putting out fires in Taree ..time he put his own fire out

Don’t bother 74..Originally posted by 74 Rooster View PostRooster 6, do you still believe that the Roosters would prefer that Latrell stays with us ?
I asked 6 five days ago and they still haven’t replied.
Probably afraid of the answer and in one of the earlier stages of grief still...it’ll be interesting to see

Yes and no.Originally posted by 74 Rooster View PostRooster 6, do you still believe that the Roosters would prefer that Latrell stays with us ?
If Latrell leaves it won't be because the Roosters didn't want to keep him. There's been a lot made about the money but I don't think he will find that much more in the open market than what we offered.
The biggest sticking point seems to be his desire to play fullback or 5/8. Something the club isn't willing to offer him. For that reason the Roosters don't want to keep a player whose motivation is something they can't offer. That's never a good arrangement. My understanding is that was the breakdown between he and Robbo. Nothing to do with all the bullshit in the media about money, cars or attitude.
There's a lot of love both ways between Robbo and Latrell so you just never rule out the possibility of him coming to his senses given the offers are never as good as you think theyre going to be.
We just can't afford to wait around with so much top end talent currently coming off contract.

I'm so cynical - it all reeks of PR bullshit. But on the other hand he has been made a pariah by the media so fair dues to him if he is doing the PR play…Originally posted by The Brain View PostLots of pics Of ..latrell putting out fires in Taree ..time he put his own fire outMaking Steve Naughton look like Vince Mellars...

He believes the fires are the doing of Aboriginal elders that have passed. Has posted images of them appearing in clouds, smoke, fire etc saying they are watching and this is their doing.Originally posted by Salvatori Grubber View Post

Your last paragraph contradicts any argument that he might stay. If they are moving on with negotiations to keep other players they’re not going to backtrack on that if he decides to stay. They’re not going to say, sorry JWH and SST your upgraded offers are off the table because Latrell has changed his mind again. Don’t think Nick Politis that way.Originally posted by Rooster_6 View Post

Teddy is on track to be the best fullback in the history of the game, so there's no opportunity for Latrell there. Personally, I was happy to give him a go at 5/8 with Keary at half. Rather than losing Latrell, I wouldn't have signed Flanagan, using Lam and Hutch as back up. If Wighton can play 5/8, Latrell probably can. L doesn't have the work rate of Wighton, but he's more gifted.Originally posted by novice chook View PostI applaud the Chooks for not offering Latrell either FB or 5/8. He isn't suited to either position long term. And we have stellar players in those positions as it is. Team comes first, not the individual.
The club seems to have agreed with a lot here that he's not a 5/8 and maybe they're right.

There should be enough money to upgrade SST and JWH, and keep Latrell.
Cronk retired.
If Latrell wants to play fullback, or 5/8 [at which he wasn't top shelf when tried there, IMO]...then our Club cannot do anything to keep him. So he must be moved on as soon as possible.
I still can't believe it's all turned to mush a mere few weeks after we won the GF.
Wests offer is $800,000 first year, $900,000 second year, $1m third year...reportedly.
To play FB he'll have to change his body shape [according to Dean Ritchie?]...and forge a new career in that position...a very risky thing to try, in the NRL.
He should've taken our $800,000 a season, stayed at left centre where he plays well and has helped win 2 grand finals, and where the tasks are not as difficult as at 5/8 and FB.
