Yeah Greedy I remember reading that too. Its all just hope mate. What's worse is that Anasta looks even further off retirement (not going off form obviously). I can just picture the same time next year we'll all be in utter disbelief that Anasta has signed for another year and we'll all then be looking forward to 2014. For a player of Anasta's profile to retire at age 30 if almost unheard of these days. Our best bet is this golf thing and that ain't looking too promising.

Yeah pretty much. And if he doesn't have that then he needs to have something else of a similar game-changing quality.

        1. Tuivasa-Sheck (people in the know seem to think he is already ready for grade, I'd have him in 20s most of the year and be praying for an early, yet respectful retirement for Mini)
        2. Henry or Tagive take your pick
        3. Moga
        4. SKD
        5. Perrett

        11. Leilua (where he would shine)

Also can't wait til Henare Wells comes on in a couple of years, provided he is still with us. That kid would be one of the fastest in the comp.
Taguive is very fast most likley our fastest in the nrl squad.

looks good to me. i hope henry is quick. watching him live he doesnt look a noted speedster and i havent seen him score a try yet off the back of pace alone but hopefully i am wrong and he does in fact have some toe out in the open. i would have tagive starting on the wing ahead of him at this stage though from the perspective of experience - although tagive only has a handful of firsts under his belt, imo he has shown that he is up to it - and also based on speed - even if henry is quick, he would do well to be quicker than tagive. tagive was the quickest at the dragons which is some acheivement considering they boast the likes of soward, morris, nightingale, boyd, cooper and gasnier and would be up there with the quickest players in the game for sure.

Yeah I know Tagive is quick. He's run under 11 for the 100 apparently but from the games I've seen he's pretty average from dummy half and a bit suspicious in the air defensively. Just saying if Henry even has average speed for a winger I'd have him in there because he looks better at most other aspects of wing play. Probably wouldn't hurt to have Tagive on the wing though if Leilua starts the season in the centres to compensate for his lack of speed. We will however miss Leilua's work from dummy half if Tagive is the left winger cos BJ consistently made over 10m a run from there this year.

Henrys experience is in nyc taguives in nrl. not able to compare on what you say.

Fair call. But in my opinion Tagive doesn't offer enough in other important areas of wing play (other than speed and finishing ability) from what I've seen of him in first grade. Henry was one of the best backs on the field playing centre in the Junior Kangaroos/Kiwis match. Looking forward to seeing how these two go in the trials as well as Moga.

                  Taguive is an adequate replacement.
yak this is taguives stats compared with our out going players. better than linnet and graham.

It's his metres per run that worry me. Most of those runs were from dummy half and average out to be 2m less than both Graham and Linnett (not that I think Kane's stats are all that relevant as he made his metres from half breaks off the back of backline movements and not as high a percentage from dh runs). I saw all but one of his games this year and I can't recall one run from dummy half where he made metres after first impact in the tackle. Hopefully that was as a result of tentativeness with his knee limiting his leg drive which he should be more confident with by the start of next season. I'm sure if he has an uninterrupted pre season he will get the nod ahead of Henry but I think if Henry has a bit of toe about him he could potentially be a better player than Tagive for us next year (going on what I've seen of both, because that's all you can go off, otherwise junior stars would never get the opportunity to show what they've got over average performing first graders).

I'll put my neck on the line and say that Tagive will be our top try scorer for season 2012.

Big call Funky. I mean he's certainly athletic enough. He's super quick even before the line and has great footwork through the line. If he can get through the full pre-season without any knee concerns he'll be a lot better for it. When he came onto the scene for the Tigers he looked like the next big thing so really injuries aside he obviously has the talent.

this. massive potential and talent as a kid and deservedly got the 'next big thing' tag. he has shown glimpses of it in first grade imo over the last few years but injuries and depth at the dragons in particular have stunted his progress. with us he will have a great opportunity to cement a spot on the wing in first grade so injuries aside, this could be one of our better signings of the past little while. If things do go to plan, no doubt he will be there or there abouts in the try scoring stakes come the end of the season

It's of one the best forwards packs in the comp but also one of the worst backlines in the comp

                                How about we all stop being negative and look at the positives we have for our backline;

                                - Mitchell Pearce - Is one of the best halves in the game, he will only get better!
                                - 5-8 - Either way Mortimer or Anasta are both above average 5-8's...we are lucky to have depth like this in our halves
                                - SKD was the best centre in the world in 2010 and hopefully will hit the same form this year
                                - BJ has huge potential, whether it be at wing/centre/2nd row
                                - Perret gives us huge metres off his dummy half runs
                                - Minichello is super reliable under the high ball, and although he has lost his speed his experience is priceless
                                - Have some great young players coming through - especially Moga

If all these players fire in 2012 our backline wont be as bad as we are all thinking!!! Obviously I agree with most of your comments but I just thought I would put a positive spin on things fingers crossed we have a good fullback coming through in the next few years. Mini has been great for us, but it would be nice having someone attack from the back for a change.
