Are Morley, Fitzgibbon, JWH, Ricko and Cordner tougher than Bonetti, Phillips, Keary, Friend or Cronk?
Are they not as tough?
I really don't see how you can single out players X, Y, Z from the above as being tougher than their opposites.
As such I'd rather list 5 incredibly tough acts from a Roosters player that I've seen:
1. Minichiello overcoming his severe back injuries to make it back and play consistently great footy at the back end of his career was a tremendous display of mental fortitude.
2. Cronk in the 2019 GF. An incredible display of mental strength to just take the field, let alone play the game out.
3. Jake Friend almost dying having busted his lung or something along those lines late in 2014.
4. Morley getting smashed, and I mean SMASHED, across the face by a Cowboys player at Dairy Farmers. He got up, concussed, but played the ball and carried on. Not a diving bone in the living legend's body
5. Chris Flannery playing the 2004 GF with a busted testicle.
Special mentions to SKD for playing on in the 2013 GF with a broken jaw, Simon Bonetti vomiting during the Knights final in 2002 after busting his guts tackling himself to a standstill, and Luke Phillips just playing like a savage every week for 3 seasons at fullback. Ricko playing the 2002 GF with a dud hammy. Fittler overcoming groin and shoulder injuries in the finals series almost every year in the 2000s. Boyd Cordner backing up week after week with busted knees.
Also I recall Fitzy and Phillips again getting busted eyebrows literally stapled in game on live tv.
Anthony Tupou spent halftime one game looking for his teeth on the field. I'm pretty sure he played on.
Didn't Fergo play half of last year's GF with a fractured leg?
Craig Wing was another tough mother ****a despite being a pretty boy. Mozza knocked him into the Shadow Realm during the 2002 GF but he played on.
I could go on. So many of them are absolute warriors.Comment
