But if relocation is done Souths should be very worried, they are a financial mess and owe millions to the Juniors which they will never repay.
they also don't have a leagues club. But saying that the media would get on their hypocritical high horses and prevent it
Would be funny if some old wounds were opened and the game sought to right the wrong by going after Souths as a way to prove they were right to boot them out the first time.

LOL can somebody introduce me to their accountant?
It doesn't seem like a very good net profit from $30m revenue....however the main man said early last year that in several years time the Leagues Club grant will not be needed.
Costs a lot of money to run a 'football entity'...everything has to be paid for....Players, cheergirls, posters, staff etc etc etc. Once you start paying all the bills, the $30m is soon gone, is my guess.

Other 'football entities' are going broke, even with leagues club grants [or no grants if their leagues clubs are not making money.]

Coaches, psych's, dietitians, strappers, first aid supplies, software, merch, accommodation, flights, advertising, etc. It all adds up.

We are lucky to balance the books and make a small, tidy profit.
About 13 other clubs wish they were in the same boat.

If we were to call a spade a spade, the football club did not make a profit. It made a loss of over -$2.5M, which was offset by the Leagues club grant. However as long as the leagues club can keep tipping in money, the club itself is at no risk of relocation imo.

Exactly. My read is that the leagues club (and all related entities) exist to fund the football side. It is, quite simply, a mechanism for balancing the books.

We can do this because the club is not privately owned, I.e. no shareholders demanding dividends, thus avoiding any conflicts of interest. This is interesting in the context of that Australian article, as the implication is that dividends Politis makes from his Broncos shareholding could possibly be used by him as personal donations to Easts, meaning the Broncs might just be funding Easts. A long bow, I know. But plausible.

I cannot understand why anyone would be against the Allianz rebuild. We are already behind most other States in the area of footy/multi-purpose stadiums and run the risk of falling further behind. I look on with envy when I see Optus Stadium and the various ones they have in Vic. All of which I believe have been built with govt funds.

Given the kiddies nowadays are climate change warriors, they wouldn't want aircon in their classrooms anyway, so we can slide that money back towards the stadium rebuild. And the demountables are fine - students and teachers won't want the dust and dirt of building them new schoolrooms - too much pollution in their vicinity that will harm them!!! Plenty of money saved here that can be put back into the Allianz rebuild ..
You have an issue with that?

Us adults have ruined the environment for them. We should have done what they are doing now. Good on them for standing up to governments and people in denial about climate change.

              Anyway, back to the topic...

Easts are safe. Too many heavy hitters involved for them to be shifted elsewhere.

So long as Easts are successful we will be fine. As Nick says "losing is bad for business".

Born and bred in the eastern suburbs.

Those dividends are worth about a measly $1700, I would say he owns bronco shares for a bit of a shit stirring laugh.

I don't blame NC for her opinion, she just lacks a proper education and that isn't her fault. You can't learn what you haven't been taught and if you don't have the capacity to learn then it is more a lack of intelligence, which again I would not blame her for.

Sanctimonious git. Its the type of education and intelligence that you are blessed with that endorses kiddies to carry placards and wag school, and believe in fables and fairies and goblins too.

Are you saying that global warming and pollution is a fairy tale?

May not be a fairytale, but there is no evidence to suggest it is real either.

it has always been there, just these days there is technology and resources to point it out more for everybody, it was no worse 50 yrs ago.

The world has has doubled its population from the 70s, more people, more cars, More resources. It’s evolution, climate change is a fancy word that somebody made up to sell books.

if anybody believes it is anymore than that, then you may as well be a fictional character in a Harry Potter book.

                                Call me Harry Potter.

Also, interesting article in the Australian today about the NRL's plans for re-location of clubs. Seems like fan attendance could be a criterion.
