I understand what you're saying, especially if you were a Pearce fan.
But I don't see Cronk as a "transit lounge" signing at all.
Cronk had to move to Sydney, and felt he had a couple of good seasons left in him. Signing him made a lot of sense. He even has family connections to our club.
People on this site are marking him way too hard, I think he goes alright. There are other factors that contribute to how much influence a halfback has on a game.
Re-watch our earlier defeat of Newcastle with a fully fit Pearce at half...................

I'm not a fan of any player above the club, not even Freddy. I don't see it as a defence of Pearce as a player but the overall shape of the team, I just don't think it was the necessary move or the missing link in a team that was close to the trophy.

No worries mate we can agree to disagree after all different opinions are what makes this place great, it would be boring if we all thought the same way. I get a little over the top because I love the club.

I reckon we should've kept Maloney above Pearce.
So we might agree on that.
Still think some of you blokes are way too hard on Cronk, and are therefore missing the real issue.

Artie was a bit before my time, sadly I’ve never seen him outside of the highlight reels and I get a bit peeved that I missed out on a legend. The only downside to 110 years and over 1000 players is we can’t see them all, I would have loved to have seen Dally Messenger, Dave Brown, Ray Stehr, Artie etc play I’m glad I’ve seen the likes of Freddy and SBW
