To me he’s just a tiny bit better than ordinary. But just like NSW couldn’t win with him at the helm so too our last 3 finals have been failures. The year that Pearce didn’t play origin NSW won. That says it all. The GF has two of the best halves playing and that’s no coincidence. And it’s no coincidence that we’’re not there with the half we have.

Mbye is paid way too much but has played less than 100 games. Brooks will be paid about 500k from next year and again less than 100 games. Townsend is again on way less than Pearce in a supporting role to Maloney and again way less experienced.

Pearce will be on about 900k plus nxt yr inc lsl and was our highest paid player in the past 2-3 years on about 750-850k over those seasons. I expect more from him than the names you tossed up.

But I still think he is a quality half back.
It sh!ts me that he cant get repeat setsd & take a game by the scruff of the neck but if you take Thurston, Cronk & Morgan out of the equation neither can any of the rest of them.

Well thank you very much cause I had that debate with one of his supporters not more than 4 months ago that he wasn't fast. I think that member who will remain nameless was still remembering the run where he chased down someone a few years ago... I think it was Thruston in a finals game he gave him like 10 m start and caught him near the try line. Keary is fast and even Gordon is faster than him IMO.

As for what you said that we compare him to Cronk, Thurston and others...Correct and we should compare him to the best since we are the club that is supposed to have the best or the second best. Like many others that have had the tap on the shoulder, Pearce should be in that position. He's only saviour is 2013 but most of us would agree that it was SBW at his best that was the main drive. If there's a better half available, like Cronk in 2018 or Morgan in 2019, we should make a go. Pearce is passed by his due date...

I'm not convinced about Taylor. That's just me. As for Pearce being sole captain....that's a BIG NO! He can't do anything. Maybe he needs a strong captain like a Smith to hold his hand. He goes AWOL far too often. Cronk and then Morgan in 2019 for me.
