My new whipping boy? I've had Friend marked as overrated for years. His only good seasons were when we had a proper hooker rotation limiting his game time plus a dominant 5/8 who he had to take orders from (as opposed to the last 2 seasons where he's been dishing them out)

It would be better if he were slimmer.
However, he had that lung/chest problem...all the more reason why he should not be expected to play 80 mins in today's NRL...especially with all the tackling he does.

We needed more urgency against that Warriors pack.
        Amen.
Fresh legs, speed, Carter and Watson.
        We didn't get them...we lost.

No Harvard degree needed for this one either.

If you have followed for decades you know that last part is ridiculous.

              Basically every game.

He threw about 4 forward oasses in that game.
That will use up too many of the interchanges. Either he doesn't start for the first 20 or he doesn't play for the last 15-20. He can't be interchanged twice.
But I do agree that Watson was wasted on the bench yesterday - and a few times before that.

Which other hooker in the NRL compares to C Smith? Not many.
We lost the game yesterday because Cords and Friend bombed a certain try and because of too many dumb plays from the backs. And because the ref decided to referee the one team.

You said it MR. Did anyone stop to think that it's the effect of almost dying from a punctured lung that makes him puffed out? I've seen Jake at different lunches and dinners over the years and no one is eating pies at the club. They are all on that paleo diet and have been for some years. Why would we expect football players to eat like supermodels? Fitzy tried that organic diet with the team back in 2009 and we could not score a point to save our lives in the second half of any game due to lack of energy...

I don't give a **** about players' personal lives. If he is unfit to last 80 minutes he is unfit to last 80 mins. It's not like we get to start with bonus points because Jake has a really good excuse for being incapable of doing his job.

He fact is Jake clearly can't play 80 minutes. It also seems to be a fact that Robbo does not want to "waste" 2 interchanges on accomodating for this. So if Friend can't get himself fit enough to handle a full game of footy then we are going to be stuck wth his poor decision making, random 4th tackle kicks, and slow service for the final minutes of each half

Go back to abusing Fergo. That's something we can now all agree on.

MR. All too true , but perhaps saving our attacking option X factor sub for next week, may have played apart too.

Danish, these statements portrait you as a true " arm chair athlete" no 2 games of rugby league are the same , no 2 game plans are the same and demands on individual players change from week to week. I am no " blind Freindy Fan " who doesn't see his predictable " dummy half play or illogical general play kicking but I do admire his work load and contribution to the team.

It is squarely on the Coaching staff to monitor the effects of opposing tactics and adjust our rotations where most needed, not work to some preordained interchange plan.

Danish, I had been thinking the exact same as you. However I now believe Friendy is there for 80m because he is the best defensive option we have.

When Carter went on against the Dragqueens, for sure he looked great in attack. BUT, he also fell off a tackle that Jake would have made for certain, and let the Dragons in for a try and back in the game, at which point I think Jake came back on to close the game out.

You are mental if you think Robo hasn't been over and over this with the players and his staff. Rather than second guessing, we are all better off looking for answers as to why.

There is someone on here who needs to change their diet and it sure ain't Jake..Normally when someone is that angry, it's because they are not getting enough fibre.

I hope Jake has given up the cigarettes as they aren't too good for the lungs either. Last time I saw him out in public (a couple years ago to be fair) he was puffing away on one.
