Grew up in Melbourne and went for Collingwood before moving to Sydney in 1980 as 9 year old. Roosters ever since. Bulldogs won that year and I had to wait a long tome to see us win.
Went to Newtown High and worked for Ron Coote at McDonald's. He had the store devoted to League and still had a strong association with East's.

Rooster since my uncle broke an actual real roosters neck in front of me and my cousin at the age of 5 in about 82, we both cried and decided to go for the roosters, luckily raiders came into the comp a year later so i wasn't stuck supporting my local team, although it would of saved many hours travel time to Sydney over the years.

I was always destined to be a Rooster, but throughout primary school, I was a Panther.

Freddy and Brandy were my fave players with daylight second, and I remember going crazy as a 10 year old when they won it in 1991.

Brandy left, but I couldn't stomach following the Auckland Warriors.

I became a Rooster for life in 1996 when Freddy saw the light and joined our great club.

The Roosters were my second team any way so it just made sense. My dad's side of the family have been Roosters since the beginning - my Great Grandfather came from England and settled in Watsons Bay around 1910 and hence the family became Chooks.

I grew up and played juniors in the Canterbury Juniors area playing for
the Milperra Colts and Bankstown Central Redbacks.

My belief was that it is possible to love more than one woman in your life
but you can only love one football side.

In the end it was my darling wife (as a young adult ) that disproved the
first theory and the Roosters from a little boy that made them the centre
of my sporting life and confirmed the second.

It was Artie Beetson that concreted my love for the Roosters - meeting
Artie at the old sportsground after coming in on my own on the old red
rattlers as a kid was inspiring and when he would herd the players to come
and make them sign our footy cards - well that was something special.

Hats off to old Brian as well we still see Brian at the ground in the
chookpen - great memories as a kid in the Turner stand.

I should have realised in 1974 that school was going to suck when the
principal insisted when we were standing in the sun at the school assembly
after just finishing our sun warmed free milk ( never drank milk again)
that we go home and cheer for the Bulldogs in the grand final on the
          weekend,

Screw that and screw school GO EASTS and the rest is history - a great
sporting journey and not so brilliant academic one though.

Followed the roosters since 1972 - when you're on a good thing, stick to it.

It's in my DNA. Only club I never disliked was Newtown due to knowing some of the players as a kid including Greg Bandiera who then played for us.

I could never decide when I was about 7, so I used to share between Parra (Lived out that way & couldn't bring myself to support Penrith) & Saint's (Mum's team & where I had lived). I used to go the games with a Saints t-shirt & a Parra jumper. If Saints were winning I'd take the jumper off, if Parra were leading I'd put it back on.

So one day mum said you'll have to decide just who you are going to follow & having met Horrie only days before through my old man I chose Easts. Never thought of changing ever.. My kids & grandkids have only ever known Roosters.

                      This is a great thread.

We emigrated from Scotland when I was about 4 and settled in Maroubra.

Not sure why, but Dad and my older brother chose Easts, so obviously I did too. Most kids at Maroubra Junction public school (where I went) supported Souths, so that reinforced the Easts love ten-fold. Even at that young age I was a contrary bugger.

Now my 3 kids are obsessed which is nice, and I'll be bringing my 3 year old daughter to the game on Sunday (her debut) with the promise of chips and ice cream as the kicker.
Making Steve Naughton look like Vince Mellars...

He was great with the kids.
                        That story brings back memories.
As a kid I remember we used to call him "Auntie" Beetson , after Auntie Jack if anyone remembers that show.

"Although you're 10 feet tall you don't scare us at all"

I used to imagine him going over to st george or canterbury households and ripping their bloody arms off.

That's gotta be the most individual reason I've heard for becoming an Easts fan. Love it.

My family have been Roosters fans since Barney Dalton didn't have my great grandfather slashed over mistaken gambling debt.

I was a Leeds supporter for 30 years until I moved here at the end of '99.

The first place I lived in Sydney was in a shared house on Moore Park Road, and I've always been a believer in following the local team. Obviously living opposite the stadium was a massive bonus.

When I got my first season ticket for the 2000 season, I thought I'd take a closer look at the roster. That sealed it - I'd always been a fan of Fittler since watching him as a young bloke on the Kangaroo tours. Add Richie Barnett, Adrian Lam, Matt Sing Brian Fletcher etc.

I've had a season ticket ever since, and followed them all over the joint.
