On the contrary, if the interchange reduction has the desired effect (which I'm not convinced it will) then forwards will be playing under greater fatigue which makes the value of an impact dummy half sky rocket.

Farah isn't that guy though, we've signed Nikorima to be that guy.

I am not a Robbie Farah fan but if the NRL seriously let's us snap him for $250k on a 1 year deal then we have to do it, that's just a steal.

I can see this happening due to a lack of confidence in our spine.

Yeah... when SBW returns we'll be premiers for sure (at least for a few minutes before the premiership's stripped).

              Looks like it's happening.

I suppose his (only) saving grace is experience.

Maybe at our club he will be different.

Though I can't work out how they will line up.

Well Imagine if..................Friend gets chosen to replace Cam Smith (stepping down) as Maroons hooker & Farah through good form continues to hold his Blues hooking role

not sure if this is the best long term use of salary cap room.

is it Farah at number 7

                        Friend as a running lock

                        Hastings fullback.
Only thing I can think of is that:
                        1) He could be seriously cheap (Tigers paying 75% of his salary because they DESPERATELY need a cash injection - already lost Taupau - don't want Tedesco to have to jump).
                        2) It's just a 1 year thing as a stop-gap measure while somebody develops.
                        3) Like Jenko, up until the last minute he has wanted to stay, but somebody at the club with a massive ego has it in for him and at the last minute he's been forced to say 'fark it, I really can't stay with this cloud of disrespectful BS - the club have backed JT's opinion over mine and I'm severely compromised as a result'.
                        4) It's mutually beneficial because Farah wants a year where he can prove himself at an awesome club before he shops around (and boost his price - the guy is 31 and has gotta be thinking retirement after his next contract so NEEDS a big one). We want an awesome player as a stop gap.

                        ---

Makes no sense, and we're linked to every high profile player so I'm not gonna buy into it as being likely. However, to work the cap properly you've gotta buy low and sell high. Farah could be a genuine bargain, and it's not a matter of 'where he'll fit', it's a matter of 'he's good enough that he WILL fit somewhere if we get him cheaply - waste of space playing NSW cup, way too good for it given he's an Origin legend and he deserves a good club/contract for his last few years'.

Edit: and could he play fullback? Pretty bad idea IMO but he'd be able to read the game in defence. We could maybe do something like what we did with Mini and RTS while RTS was learning to read in defence - Farah sits back as our 'leader of the backs' for defence (he's a 60+ tackle a game player, he can read people's plans 6 tackles in advance like a childrens book). Then in attack? He can distribute the ball between a bunch of freakish rep-grade backs. He could be an awesome FB in terms of defence, leadership and ball distribution. Not an RTS-style ball runner, but we have a truck load of ball runners!

                          Not a chance in hell.

Farah has a very specific group of skills that see him limited to playing 9, 13, 6, or 7.

9: I cannot imagine Friend being moved, unless the idea is to have them playing 50/50. This could work IF the price is right. (sub $300k)
13: Would be tied up with too much defence and too little influence on attacking plays. No point in buying him to play @ lock
6 and 7: No. They have Mitchell as a proven half, and given his performance so far they wont want to disrupt Hastings progress.

I'd much rather get Hiku for fullback tbh

                            I''m dumbfounded !

I can't see this being anything but a disruption to the team. He's a quality player (not necessarily a quality person) playing in a position currently held by our captain who is probably one of our top 3 players. I don't believe in the theory that just because a player comes cheap you buy them.
Can't see him playing in any position other than hooker ...can't believe we'd buy him to play in the halves or shift Jake to the halves (and I can't believe someone even suggested he play fullback ?)
Think Jake would have every reason to be absolutely pee'd if this is all true !

I think the rumour is credible. We let McIllwrick go and now we need a back up for Friend. I'm sure Farah is still 10 times the better player now than McIllwrick will ever be. I think Friend will still be a hooker come halve sharing the role with Farah.

If this actually happened it'd be too funny.

Out of all the rumoured players coming to us he's the one we least need; yet it seems he's the only one we're trying to get.
