Before anyone pipes up and says the players should just do as they're told and just play, keep in mind that these are two-way relationships between the player and a coach (on behalf of the club). It's a fine balance that needs to be maintained... player application and dedication ^ coach's future goals and plan. If you end up making someone the scapegoat or sacrificing an individual without good reason or explanation you risk loosing the dressing room.
An argument could be made to cut or to keep Guerra depending on how you see him fitting in with the bigger plan. IMO he's a SOO player and should not need the usual prompting, warning or encouraging that may be the case for lesser players. IMO he had a role in this team as a senior player and he neglected to do the job. Any fair dinkum observer will tell you that and any player that doesn't acknowledge as much risks putting their head on the block next.
This 'unspoken reality' is how you keep everyone on the same page, eg Thaiday's relegation to the bench early in the season: does anyone seriously think Bennett spoke to him about it? Both knew he was riding the coat-tails of the others so the actions spoke louder than any words.

The Roosters have spent near enough to 4 years bringing Mitchell through the ranks as opposed to Nikorima who got a cheque. If the Roosters rush his progression from here not only is it a waste of 4 years but also leaves us without a recognised fullback in the interim and nobody coming through that can play fb.
People can talk about Hayne or anyone else for that matter but the fact is there are no fb available right now and there are none on the horizon other than Mitchell.

He has sacrificed a lot to get into this league. I will be suprised if he gives it all up.

Hayne will never be back. A full season in the practice squad and he will make it as a running back / punt return. 49s coach is likely to be sacked soon anyway. He's massively offside with kaepernick who had signed a huge money long term deal after an amazing rookie season in 2013. The fact that bush has had a season ending injury, the other running backs are injured and hayne still can't get a run even though he is in the roster shows that the coach hasn't got a clue. Playing running backs that other teams have cut and have proven that they can't succeed in the nfl over a player with untapped ability yet limited experience. They aren't going to make the play-offs this year anyway. Hayne is a star and given time he will get there.
