  • Television games against weak opposition

Whenever the Roosters figure in one of these games, I get worried. Let's face it, 95% of NRL fans will turn their TVs off if the Roosters are running up a cricket score and this is bad for business.

I don't think we will lose today, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Knights are given every assistance to keep the viewers engaged for as long as possible - being allowed to stand offside, slow down the ruck, a big penalty advantage etc. Definitely a game to turn the audio off too because the commentators will be playing their part in lauding our courageous opposition and denigrating the Roosters' uncharacteristic mistakes.

Last Friday nights game vs the Dogs was a perfect example albeit against a better outfit.

How does a game go from 22 - 0 to becoming a cliff hanger without the influence of the game managers.

Knights are rubbish, I'm really not worried. Huge penalty count of not. If we show up we win, simple.

Yes because the 'game managers' drop balls and miss tackles.

Yep, was going to mention this. Remember the last time we played up there? Rabs, Gus and Joey were standing and applauding the Knights at half time FFS!

            No actually!

They award dubious tries and and their interpretation of the games rules vary depending on the scoreline. As if the Dogs 1st try was fair dinkum.

A close contest is good for business as it keeps the viewers engaged for longer.

I think where becoming better at overcoming such obvious swings in momentum that are brought about by the lopsided penalty counts.

            Practice makes perfect, Mr Cage.

I will have the volume on today and swear I'll write a letter of complaint to Ch Nein and the NRL if they are allowed to carry on like last time with their standing ovation rubbish

It's already penned in my mind challenging the NRL to entertain rival bids just as Ch10 has brought cricket aliove with Gilly, M Waugh and Ponting in the Twenty20

No, they don't. But by allowing interference in the ruck and opponents to stand offside, they can certainly make it more difficult to hold onto the ball and thereby put more pressure on our defence.

Just remind me too... How many players have been sent off for bad language since Jarred was marched in the corresponding game last year (just when it looked like the 8-4 penalty advantage was not enough to get the Knights home)?

Wasn't this the same game last year when the knights beat us and Gus got everyone to give the Knights a standing ovation!
With the knights paying over $6 they can expect the same support from the wise one Gus. Volume down this arvo boys.

Gus might be looking for a new 5 year Pension Plan, as his gig at Penrith is coming to a close, and the Knights offer a solid 5 year pay cheque for him, to build his retirement chest, easy money if you can get it.

I think we took one for the 'rise for alex foundation' that game.

Didn't Smith present a cheque following the official stitch up?

Looks like Channel 9 will lose this ratings spot!

I'd just like to point out that those 22 Newcastle points coincided with a period in the second half in which they received 7 penalties to 1.
