Of course, and the right side defence is vulnerable without SKD. But there is nothing intrinsically wrong with the way we are playing.

We still won (without Pearce and without Friend for a decent period) so I'm not gonna whinge much more. However, the refs were overly generous to Newcastle IMO.

As good as Roger has been all year, that's one floor in his game. That rolling ball in the in goal .... that bad miss he made was not the first time this year he's been a little to casual and conceded a try.

Same could be said when we were 4-1 up in the 1st half.

True, but the point here (which relates to my original post) is that giving the Knights 7 penalties to 1 helped get them back into the game and entertain the TV audience. One would normally expect a team that is down 32-0 to test the rules and be penalised, but no, the Roosters get penalised instead... like they did when the Dogs were facing a thrashing.

Anyhow, I accept that it was a couple of uncharacteristic, unforced errors that caused us the most problems today, rather than the penalties.

No Gus and no Rabs today. It was the substance abuse twins and some guy called Mat Thompson who was a little too into it. It's no fun when they're into it. I want to hear screams of terror not of delight.

Today was another clear example of how friggin important penalties are in the game. The Bulldogs on the back of 6 consecutive penalties scored 28 unanswered points, and Newcastle recieved a shit load in a row, & scored 22.
The Roosters won't be stopped if only they can stop those horrendous batches of penalties that go against us.

Just remind me too... How many players have been sent off for bad language since Jarred was marched in the corresponding game last year (just when it looked like the 8-4 penalty advantage was not enough to get the Knights home)?

I'd like to point out that kurt gidley uttered a loud "EFF OFF" today in the vicinity of a referee after a decision didn't go his way but naturally he wasn't sin-binned like JWH - no surprise there of course and just like there was no surprise that jeremy smith wasn't sin-binned for his deliberate trip on RTS whilst in an offside position.

Good win by the Roosters today but it should have been better than it turned out.
