All they have to do is obtain valuations of the properties at the date of the sale. If they were sold at market value then game over. If they were sold under market value then game on.

As was mentioned previously, I'm sure they were sold at market value. Whether the money that paid for it was from the player or the club is a different ball game and the difficult to part to prove.

It was interesting hearing Ben Ikin's comments on this since he was on the board at the time it happened. He was talking about processes and how the Cowboys have no case to answer. Then he put his foot in by saying board members are required to communicate potential conflicts of interest to other board members, and that he was not made aware of these dealings at the time.

If the NRL wants any credibility then they should immediately ban any high-value "arms-length" dealings.

This is an ideal opportunity for the NRL to rubber stamp TRobbo's suggestion and make $700,000 exempt from each clubs cap per year for a marquee player.

I agree but I don't think the club has paid any difference. I think the allegation is that players may have purchased undervalue. All you need is a valuation as at the time they purchased it.

it is not rocket science , jump on Real estate .com to price check, the values stated come in close to what the going rate is up there for property.

$400K will get you a comfortable 4 beder 2 car garage anywhere up there - definitely not Sydney market prices.
