Interesting article from Souffs man Brad Walter about our salary cap situation. May put the rumours about us clearing the decks for a big signing to rest - though it probably won't. We all knew the cap would tear us apart at the end of this season.

I'm not surprised and never honestly thought we would be getting a big signing for next year, however, there is still a rumour floating about Brett Stewart who I honestly think would have something to offer while Latrell Mitchell adjusts to playing FG. But as the article suggests we have cap pressure which is a no brainer so I think we would only secure a player like Stewart if they were prepared to take unders or less than what they would be hoping for.

It would be good if we manage to keep Sam Moa as the article suggests. A front row rotation of JWH, Moa, Napa and Evans with Meehan and possibly Matagi waiting in the wings for a crack. With our backrow of Guerra, Cordner, Maubs, SST and Liu and our exciting young backline with the experience of Pearce, Jennings, SKiDs and Fergo who is still quite young would make us more than competitive next year and I honestly think could still make a tilt for a top 4 spot in years to come.

I wouldn't give that $ouff$ loving tosser the time of day! WTF would he know about our salary cap?? He is just hoping like all hell that we aren't clearing the decks for a big name signing, as that is what he wants from a $ouff$ point of view!! Anti-Roosters c**ts like him will forever have a go about us and our salary cap because they are just jealous c**ts!!

As if anyone in the know at our club such as Uncle Nick, Canavan, Robinson or POS are going to tell that $ouff$ loving pr!ck anything about our salary cap and how much each of our players are on!!

By letting go of the players that we have, plus the discretionary fund of Dave Smith, can give us the possibility/ability of signing up a marque player such as Hayne or Folau. I have no doubts that $ouff$ will use Dave Smith's discretionary fund to get $am $quirrel burgar$e back either next year or the year after. Of course that will be all ok by $ouff$ loving tosser walter, but certainly he will have everyone believe that it isn't alright for the Roosters to use the same fund!
The year 2013 marks the beginning of the Roosters next 'decade of excellence', and it will prove to be more successful than the last!

        Here's looking at you, kid.

            This.
If we wanted to keep RTS and made a $400K offer and made a similar offer to BBQ and you would think that money for Fergo was already set aside you would think that we have quite a bit under the cap for a decent player.
Even if we keep Toups and Moa it wouldn't be on this kind of money.
It sounds like this idiot is just trying to prepare for a "how did they fit him under the cap" story if we announce a big signing.

Exactly! Pure speculation on his behalf,Suffs must be shitting bricks, maybe the Hayne plane is comming and Brad cant handle it.If you want a good cap story I'm dam sure the Warriors accountant would have a good one.

What the fark would Walters know anyway. He's a souffs supporting muppet.

There is now a significant amount of money available that was allocated in next years budget for RTS($520k) and BBQ($450k).

That would quite comfortably cover either Hayne, Folau or Slater if we wish to make them an offer.

Slater? Great player, but seriously? I'd rather they risk missing the 8 in 2016 and let Latrell do his apprenticeship.

That all but confirms we are adding to our squad.

Walter is never right about us.

"Representative forward" Dylan Napa. Have I missed something?

                        Why not?

Is it because he's injury prone?

Like or loathe him, he's still the worlds best FB.

                        Personally, i'd take Hayne though.

His injuries would be the only concern.

I too would prefer Hayne and Folau though. We most likely won't get any though.

yeah nah.. What you need to understand is we offered RTS $525K as a final offer, however this would have meant losing Maloney, Moa and probably Toops. We missed RTS then offered most of this money to Maloney which also meant losing Moa and Toops. We missed Maloney and now we can probably keep Moa and Toops. You can't keep adding up the money we offered to RTS and Maloney, it was the same money.

Maloney would have been on $400k and RTS $150-$200k. That's $550-$600k we should have spare. Moa is already on contract so we don't need money to re-sign him.

Toops is the only one left to sign, so either we give him a decent pay packet or we go after a fullback. The latter option may mean letting go of Moa early though.
