Maloney would have been on $400k and RTS $150-$200k. That's $550-$600k we should have spare. Moa is already on contract so we don't need money to re-sign him.

Toops is the only one left to sign, so either we give him a decent pay packet or we go after a fullback. The latter option may mean letting go of Moa early though.

The upgrades to a number of other players have squeezed us and left us with little room to move for next season. Don't expect any big names to come in next season. Maybe the year after we may be on the look out for one as I cannot see Jennings being retained beyond his current contract but again upgrades might again prevent that from happening. Don't forget Joe Burgess will be here next season.

We've let SBW, Mini and FPN go though. That'd be close to a million dollars that we could have used on upgrading contracts. I'm not saying it would have covered all of it but with that and salary cap increases I think we'd have a decent amount of cap space for next year.

i guess that rts was on $350k/ yr, bbq would be $400k /yr a nene might be $100k/yr. so lets just say $850k available. add that to fpn $300k. Feel free to speculate what you think these players are worth or possibly being paid. its still alot of $$$$$$ available

I think that everyone who thinks that there is a big name signing coming are only setting themselves up for some major disappointment. Personally I'd love to free up some more cap space by letting Toops go

I thought we were near our cap at end of 2012 when we brought part of Maloneys pay forward to be included in that year (even though he hadn't started with us). Yet we still managed to snag Jenko and sbw during that offseason leading into 2013.

You may well be right, I don't have any inside knowledge. Just airing doubts that myself and other supporters have about our upgrades, and how we seem to be planning for the immediate future.
I had a lot of faith in how our lot have managed the cap up until now.

Agree that salarys being made public would end a lot of debate, especially from our jealous critics, but a better idea would be to scrap the cap.

I think u r forgetting Fergo mate. He is on very little but about to be upgraded to his market value.

Indeed but I don't think he will be paid a huge amount. The jury is still out on if his ankles can handle it and I think we paid him decent money when he was working for us last year.

An example of one upgrade we have effected. Moa was on very little 2013 and 2014, that was quite well documented that he wanted a start in the NRL. For 2015 and 16 he is getting about $400k per season.

Jared and Guerra have been given quite significant payrises. I'm sure Napa and SST have been too. Add to that Fergo's upgrade, Burgess.and Latrell Mitchell for starters you start to take up a lot of extra coin.

I don't think RTS was on the dollars some of you were suggesting either considering he had played very little if any FG before his current contract (I'm not totally sure when he signed so I may be wrong.)

A large portion of Mini's salary was exempt and I assume that is going to Pearce or across several players in next 1-2 years.

If we had a fair chunk of a Million dollars like some of you accountants and auditors lol are suggesting don't you think our offers to RTS and Maloney would have been more competitive?
