Good for you Melon, Im bloody delighted we have gotten this far. I honestly thought at the start of the year our team would do well, make the 8, and maybe win two semis.......and then get knocked out, and I would have been happy with that. I just didnt think they had the experience and all round team to win the whole thing.Originally posted by melon.... View PostI was at our soccer presentation night on Saturday. I just made a speech and presented some awards, and on the way to the bar ****ed it over from that bledisloe crap and saw it was extra time. I rode those minutes and when we won I ran through the venue, hugging and kissing team mates, their wives, bar staff and even the crusty old bloke that was on his 300 th beer.
I enjoy the wins don't worry about that. But I want these kids to go all the way. Because I think they can. So I tend to can down, and will them on to the next one.
Well that may still be the case, but I think the beauty of this years comp has been that any team can beat any other team on any given night.........we can beat Penrith, if we play well, and they can beat us if we are a bit off. I think we will win it, and then again we can beat the Titans to get into the GF.
To beat the Dragons would be sweet....but I would love to see us play Canberra in the GF, I think that would be the feel good Grand Final, and bring together the whole league community.
Cheers mate..........its great to be a ROOSTER.

It would be doubly sweet. The ultimate redemption and the ultimate up yours to Canberra for chucking him out.Originally posted by JohnL View PostRoosters V Raiders GF and Carney plays a blinder to upset the fans yelling at him from the sideline the first time we played them this year....

I wouldn't say that was our grand final the other day...I prefer to look at the positives to come out of that game and if they just believe that they have the firepower to blow everyone away then they can win this comp...the arsenal is there to blow teams away just the aim is a bit here and there at times...if they can lock on to the target watchout every one else..

Thats not true. If you check the draw, you will see that the week after we beat the Bulldogs in 2005 we played Saints on Anzac Day and Matt head chipped and regathered to put Cooper over for the match winner in the dying minutes. We were far from road kill and should have actually won that game but for Tupou dropping the ball 5 metres out and with the line wide open with 5 mins to go.Originally posted by TheLoneRooster View PostThe thought that the game against the tigpies was Easts' GF crossed my mind but I'm hoping that Smith's experience will guide them through this new territory with his calm approach. This situation reminds me a bit of 2005 when Easts beat the Bulldogs to avenge the 2004 GF defeat but were roadkill after that game. I don't want to see a repeat of the roadkill bit after the emotional high of Saturday night.

Penrith continue to count the cost of their qualifying final loss to Canberra with Frank Pritchard joining second row partner Trent Waterhouse on the sidelines for the remainder of the NRL season.
Pritchard was diagnosed with a torn hamstring, the injury ending his eight-year tenure with the club with the Kiwi international to join Canterbury next season.
His absence - along with that of Waterhouse who suffered a torn pectoral muscle in the loss to the Raiders - leaves a massive hole in the Panthers forward pack ahead of Saturday night's semi-final against the Sydney Roosters.
Lock Luke Lewis was cleared of any further damage to his calf and shoulder, while the return from suspension of skipper Petero Civoniceva will be a welcome boost for the Panthers.

ever since Freddy came over we have always had trouble with the Panthers, no doubt our best is good enough to beat them but it has been a while since we have put together more than 30-40 minutes of sustained football.Originally posted by elo View PostWe are getting shorter in the market by the minute......PLEASE TURN UP EASTS, nothing will be handed to us!

We need to dominate possession and territory. Walsh's kicking game inside the 20m will be their biggest attacking weapon, esp now that Pritchard is also outOriginally posted by Headless Chook View PostPlenty of practice defusing bombs from our back 3 at training this week. We also need to make sure when the kicks do go up, we get good numbers in and around the ball.

I think that was our GF. just like in 2000 when Freddy braught us bak against the druggies, we were that excited about the win that we didnt even compete in that mega boring 1 sided gf. Penrith is a bogey side for us and fuking lift everytime they play us, plus Coots back and Walsh will be fired up after copping alot of shit.

The vicious brutalization of a 1550 year old language aside, you do speak truths that the players should take heed of.Originally posted by Assyrian_Pimp View PostI think that was our GF. just like in 2000 when Freddy braught us bak against the druggies, we were that excited about the win that we didnt even compete in that mega boring 1 sided gf.
