Police charge Roosters player Jake Friend with prescription drug offences

POLICE have charged Sydney Roosters NRL player Jake Friend with two prescription drug offences.

The Roosters announced the police charges today.

In a brief media release the club said: "The Sydney Roosters have today been made aware that Jake Friend has been charged with two offences relating to prescription drugs.

"Whilst understanding the sensitivity in regards to the Police investigation, the club has consulted with its own medical staff and is of the firm belief that there is an innocent explanation.

"The club believes that as the charges are addressed and dealt with appropriately this will become clear to all parties."

Please dont jump to conclusions here.
                    It may be quite innocent.

He should not be crucified like he was over the alleged assault, which proved to be false.

So lets just see what transpires here.

my only real concern is what the hell he was doing for the police to search him in the first place, given his history he shouldn't have put himself in a situation like this.

So pleased to see that you are urging the members of this forum not to crucify Jake before the full story comes out. Hear hear - lets see what does transpire.

The statement the club put out was both promising and professional. Can't fault that.

Hopefully it isn't as serious as it sounds.

Conn was also charged for something related to prescription drugs in 2008.
